AggieDave 6 #1 October 9, 2002 Anyone else here read those books? A lot of people I know (in college) have read them, I was meaning to read them and thus I started. Read the first 3 of the series in a total of about 4 days and am 1/2 way through the 4th. For a kids book, these are really entertaining... Gypsy 0 #2 October 9, 2002 I have read all of them so far and find them VERY enjoyable. My fav is when he meets Cyrus Black. edited to add: the first book is MUCH better than the movie
bbarnhouse 0 #3 October 9, 2002 Yes I have read them and have litened to them on tape. I have also seen the movie numerous times. I am anxious to read the next book in the series, as well as see the next movie due out in Dec, B^

Kris 0 #6 October 9, 2002 Dave, you've found my guilty pleasure. The Harry Potter series is really great. The 4th book is the best in my opinion, especially the ending (which I will NOT give away, but it's truly worthy). You can see the trailers for the next movie at http://www.apple.com/trailers/ under the Warner Brothers section. ChileRelleno 0 #8 October 9, 2002 Dave, you are not alone, my friend. My wife got me to read them and they were very entertaining. My wife is a Harry Potter FREAK! She has HP everything: socks, bookbags, pic frames, CD holders, mousepad, watch, pens/pencils, magazine articles, post-it notes, magnets, pillow shams, ect... Yes there is even more. I live with this GEEK but then again she lives with a SKYDIVER. But she's crazy about kids' books in general, not just HP. quade 4 #11 October 9, 2002 Ok, so . . . now that we've all admitted we've read them, how about some relationship predictions? Who does Hermione end up with, Ron or Harry? I think Harry (hero get's the girl theory), but B^2 has predicted it's Ron with Harry ending up with Ron's sister Ginny (big giant Weasley family theory). BTW, there are other theories floating out there . . . Hermione and Draco (opposites attract) for instance. Or has this slipped into the realm of the wacko fan?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Jessica 0 #12 October 9, 2002 Oh my God. It's so obviously going to be Hermione and Ron. I don't think Harry's real love interest has made an appearance in the series yet.Skydiving is for cool people only

quade 4 #14 October 9, 2002 Quote It's so obviously going to be Hermione and Ron. Exactly why I hope it's not. It would be far more interesting to teach kids that at 15 or 16 you'll probably end up with a different person than everyone -thinks- you ought to be with. This is just a little children's lit fantasy of mine though. So far though, JKR has been pretty satisfying in teaching some little lessons along the way -- so, there's still hope. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Well, that's a good point, though it didn't occur to me until the 4th book that there might end up being something between them. So perhaps it's also a good lesson in someone you find annoying suddenly turning out to be hot 'n sexy. Quote So far though, JKR has been pretty satisfying in teaching some little lessons along the way -- so, there's still hope. I agree. I think they're great literature for kids and in general -- sophisticated and real, despite the fantastic subject matter. I think it's gonna be funny to watch Harry and Ron increasingly ruled by their hormones. Skydiving is for cool people only
quade 4 #16 October 9, 2002 QuoteI think it's gonna be funny to watch Harry and Ron increasingly ruled by their hormones. Started in year three when Harry "noticed" Cho. It's a little more pronounced in year four with all the party invites and turn downs. Year five ought to be a real hoot.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
billo 0 #17 October 9, 2002 Ya the series rocks - i read all 4 in a week while i was bedded up last fall. i don't remember all of the particulars of the books, but i do remember Harry really catching onto Cho. I hope the author keeps the future romantics and inuendo at a minimal/tolerable level - otherwise you could just go get some supermarket smut! HP teaches birds and the bees? who knows... b
Snowbird 0 #18 October 9, 2002 Harry is awesome! I devoured the first 2 books in a day each, the 3rd in two days, and the 4th in three. Then I reread them! I agree that his love interest hasn't appeared yet. I don't think that Rawlings will make it that predictable. Hermione and Ron won't be an item either, at least not long term. They are a good trio of friends, and I hope Rawlings keeps them that way. That woman is such a great writer, and I wish I had her creative vision. She has alot up her sleeve; I watched an interview with her, and she made it very clear that she will write it true to her vision, not as the critics/editors think it should be. No 'Hollywood' predictable plot twists. She also hinted that an important character will be killed.I can't wait for the next book! Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein
