Sabre 2 vs Spectre

Recommended Posts

I have done my last 550 to 600 jumps on a spectre 120. I load it about 1.2 to 1.3.
I once tried a sabre 2 135 when a demo canopy was available and really liked it. The landing was far softer than those I get with my spectre. I do really like my spectre but fancy a change perhaps! I was thinking of going for a sabre 2 of the same size as I don't really want any faster landings than I already have, but I was told that if I am loading the canopy a little bit more then it doesn't necessarily mean it will fly faster, but I should get more flare power out of and therefore softer landings! Maybe a 107 would be better? I have just over 1000 jumps now.
Any suggestions? I would also like to know if there are any ways of getting softer landings out of my spectre without having to do low riser turns as I prefer a straight in 'safer' approach!

Get a Sabre2 120. Going from 7 cell to 9 cell will give you a flatter glide and should give you a better landing if you liked how the 135 flew. Hey, Demo a 120 first and then decide. Put at least 20 jumps on it and do all the things that Bill Von lists for being able to master your canopy before making your decision.

Call kolla over at PD. She will answer all your questions and even arrange for you to DEMO the canopy you want. I suggest you try the 120 first and then the 107 before you spend $1300+- on a canopy. And PD has such a good demo program you can do just that.
Hope this helps.

I'd suggest demoing a Sabre2 120 before you buy anything. A weekend or two on that will tell you if you want a 120 or a 107.

I jump a Spectre, always do straight in, full flight approaches and always get nice soft landings... but I also only load mine around 1.0-1.1. Have you tried double front riser straight in approaches? This might give you enough extra speed without having to do the hook.

Dunno might be maybe you have the Majic touch.

I hope you mean "magic" and not "majik" because I most definitely did NOT have the "majik" touch! I don't know, maybe it helped to be a local. I also got the $100 refund they had back in January.

Yes, you are definitely the bomb on that one, Lisa!

I just added that in on the chance that they might do it again next year, it would only be a 3 month wait for her to see.
