How not to do a raft dive

All the lurkers leave at 4500ft. At 4000, the people in the raft lean out one side and roll (determine which side in the dirt dive) and track apart.

A really cool tip I picked up from Scotty while lurking his raft dirt dive at WFFC this year: Inside people always roll to the left - you've got a hackey on your right that would love to snag part of the raft on its way by. In all the raft dives we've done, that thought's never crossed our mind. Thanks Scotty!
it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

Is it me or does 4000 seem a bit low to have a raft cluster fuck exit. Maybe it's just because I like to pull at 3000. I'd prefer to get out of the raft by 4500 at least.

All a matter of taste. The extra 500 is nice. It depends on who I am with. Most everyone I jump with, dumps 2200-2500, I'm a 2700ft guy myself. A little extra comfort is always good.
I like the "always roll to the left" idea. Thanks, I will add that to my raft "notes" list.
