AggieDave 6 #1 October 10, 2002 For only having 4 of the Harry Potter books released... I just finished the forth book, ended too quickly, could have easily gone on for another 100 pages to finish out the plot, but alas its done and now I have to wait until May for the next one...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." nacmacfeegle 0 #6 October 10, 2002 I giggled at the line from Obi Wan in the last flick... "Ani, you kill me sometimes........" My 10 year old daughter read the series last year and is freaking out waiting for the next. She originally said it would be out by Christmas, but now is saying probably not because of a lawsuit she was involved with that slowed things down. tigra 0 #15 October 10, 2002 Dave, whatever you do, do NOT start Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series. That will drive you ape shit! I don't think that will ever reach its conclusion, and its YEARS between installments. Plus, I don't think Stephen King has written much new material since his accident a few years back that almost killed him. I may never know if Roland and his new gang of gunslingers ever reach the dark tower! Gawd, I'm such a geek!!maura
Muenkel 0 #16 October 10, 2002 Maura, I'm sorry to break this to you, but I could swear I heard on the news this past week that Stephen King was retiring. Ugggh. _________________________________________ Chris
tigra 0 #17 October 10, 2002 I'm not surprised. I honestly don't think he's written anything new since his accident. Just like the character in one of his books, he's pulling out stuff he wrote years ago, dusting it off, touching it up and handing it to his publisher as new material. (Black House doesn't count since he "co-wrote" that with Peter Staub!) Do we need to start giving out "SkyGeek" numbers?? Or has that been done already?? maura
Muenkel 0 #18 October 10, 2002 There is nothing geeky about liking Stephen King novels. _________________________________________ Chris
tigra 0 #19 October 10, 2002 What about having pretty much his whole collection??? Just trying to see where I stack up on the geek scale!Dave, like you, the last Harry Potter book just left me wanting more. I'm more into the books than my nieces and nephews, and I only started reading them to see what all the fuss was about! I'm not happy about waiting til next May for the next one. I might need to reread the whole series AGAIN between now and then! maura
skymama 37 #20 October 10, 2002 Dave, I read in People magazine today (and you KNOW you have to believe everything People says!) that J.K. Rowling is still going to try to get the next book out by the end of the year. And, it's supposed to be another long one, like #4.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
Snowbird 0 #21 October 10, 2002 Stephen King is also going blind. Makes it a wee touch difficult to write as quickly as he used to. All this talk about Harry, I think I need to reread the books again. For the third time. Soon as I finish LOTR. Again. Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein
tigra 0 #22 October 10, 2002 Nothing against the man, he's had a amazing career and he's certainly entertained the masses. I'll be enjoying his novels for many years to come. Everyone has to slow down sometime, and he certainly has earned a rest and a retirement! But he hooked me with The Gunslinger oh so many years ago. Each followup draws me even further in, and he is nowhere near a conclusionLord of the Rings is on my agenda as well....... maura

moodyskydiver 0 #24 October 10, 2002 No shit! I started the DT series and now I'm stuck waiting for the new ones to be released. The next 3 books in the series have already been finished, but they haven't released 'em yet for some damn reason. He has recently published a few thing, but none concerning Roland and the gang. I've heard after he finishes the series and one or two other projects, that he's going to retire. Sheesh! I should get out more. "...just an earthbound misfit, I." tigra 0 #25 October 10, 2002 There are actually some vague references in Black House, and (even more vague) Hearts in Atlantis as well. (The whole parallel universe thing??) Guess I need to get out more too! maura
