skygal3 0 #1 October 11, 2002 where is the friendliest dz to complete an AFF course? I am thinking that waiting until next season, here in the NE, is too long, and I am thinking maybe over the Thanksgiving break to take a week off, grab my tent, and get off of student status finally...perhaps even make it to Eloy this year! Anybody have any dz's they could recommend? Have tent, will travel!!!
Slappie 9 #2 October 11, 2002 I'm being partial to my DZ but I think it's one of the best courses in the country to learn to be a skydiver. It's not AFF you do more jumps. It's about the same price ect.. But, I guarentee you'll come out of the course a much better, more rounded skydiver then from AFF.. Check out Spaceland in Rosharon Tx. {Just 20 minutes south of Houston Tx.} "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." PhreeZone 20 #3 October 11, 2002 Lake Wales/Deland/Sebastian/Skydive America would all be good choices. Closer to you is Raeford and Crosskeys. Both those I'd think would have you through the program in a weekend.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
nacmacfeegle 0 #4 October 11, 2002 Yeah, what the Slappie Dude said, and you'll get to hang with the TG, and some of friendliest jumping peeps I've seen for a long time..-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. TequilaGirl 0 #5 October 11, 2002 And no need for the tent - you can crash in my extra bedroom........
skymama 37 #6 October 11, 2002 Any of the Florida dz's will be hopping, that's when the busy season starts. For example, at Deland we will usually start having back to back loads with our Otter and Skyvan on the weekends. We have great instructors too, and a big Thanksgiving dinner for all the locals, so you won't miss out on turkey either! We want you! Oh, and don't forget...if you come to FL, you can also get some tunnel time, which is GREAT for anyone, but especially for new students. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

Squeak 17 #8 October 11, 2002 Hi skygal3 You can drop into myDZ, it's nearly summer here, I have a spare room so you can ditch the tent. The DZ is in between the Indian Ocean and the hills, so the view is pretty special, and the weather rocks. You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
SatchFan 0 #9 October 11, 2002 I think you're on the right track coming to Arizona and Eloy is a great place but there are other DZs here as well. If you're looking for a smaller DZ try DSC in Buckeye.
skygal3 0 #10 October 11, 2002 I would love to play with TG in TX...PPGS can fly together!!! We would be trouble . Florida sounds nice too, skymama, would the busy season be a bad time for AFF though? The wind tunnel sounds nice~!!

skymama 37 #12 October 11, 2002 When I say "busy season" I just mean that most likely you won't have any trouble getting on a plane, so you'd be able to finish up your levels quickly. It's not busy from students, it's busy from teams training here and other people coming down from colder climates. If you call the dz and set up the time that you are going to be here and would need an instructor, you won't need to worry about anything. And, my kids aren't going to be here for Thanksgiving, so you can have a bed to sleep in if you don't mind a 25 min drive to the dz.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
PLFXpert 0 #13 October 11, 2002 I second Skymama! Come fly with us, Skygal! You would have no problem getting on a load b/c you're on AFF and they have GREAT PLANES, GREAT FACILITIES, AND GREAT PEOPLE! For us fun-jumpers, though, getting on a load quickly can be a problem in the busy season. We usually wait an hour in-between loads, at the least. But for me, I"m a full-time college student and can only afford 3-5 jumps a weekend anyways so I don't mind the time in-between so much. Plus, it gives me more time to spank Skymama's bootie. skygal3 0 #14 October 11, 2002 no kids for thanksgiving?...we could have thanksgiving! I cook, PLFXpert can come, Nate can cry over his crutches...just think of the fun we could have!!!
skymama 37 #15 October 11, 2002 It will be my first time I've ever not had my children with me on a holiday. I guess I'll get used to it. But, I do have a big family here, and there will probably be about 20 people at my mom's house. You are welcome to come there, or there will be a bunch of people at the dz. I think they went through about 5 turkeys last year if I remember correctly. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
PLFXpert 0 #16 October 11, 2002 Skydive Deland always has a big Thanksgiving dinner! It would be so much fun if you would come and spend it with your skydiving family!

nws01 0 #18 October 11, 2002 I am planning on hitting Deland before the Christmas Boogie as long as my knee is Ok. Then heading down to the Marathon Boogie and meet up with Spy. I talked to SkySlut and he is going to Deland this weekend possibly. So you will have a AFF instructor there that you know, SkyGal!
PLFXpert 0 #21 October 11, 2002 Don't come this weekend...I won't be there. I'm usually there every Saturday but I'm having to skip one weekend a month so I can use the $$$ for X-mas shopping. Ugh, sucks to be a college student!
