Muenkel 0 #101 October 11, 2002 Hey Skygal 3, According to Sangiro's response in the beginning of this thread, you are more than welcome to contribute to the forums. He only asks that we follow the rules. The reason I started this thread is because I have been flamed one too many times by folks in regard to my jump to post ratio. Especially by folks who have never taken the time to get to know me or know anything about my personal life and the possible obstacles I am facing right now. I love skydiving and really enjoy visiting this site. Jump numbers do not impress me. Who the person is as a whole is what may impress me. A few months back, I broke the rules here and I took my lumps. Now I make an effort to follow the bossman's rules and respect what he has accomplished here. By nature, I am a big mouth and have a very sarcastic sense of humor. That gets me into trouble sometimes. I see this forum as a place for people who love skydiving to gather and share life. All is cool. Welcome. _________________________________________ Chris

happythoughts 0 #103 October 11, 2002 "Such a big plane. Such a small door" Yeah. I've floated six outside, but when you have to run it out single-file, you find out who can fly. Luvvvv it. And the noise is a weird kind of fun. Rumble... Mr. D used to have a tape deck. For a while, the tape wouldn't eject and we heard the same Eagles tape over and over. I like the Eagles, but eventually you start calling it "that damn Eagles tape".
Deuce 1 #104 October 11, 2002 Oh, happythoughts, the bruise on my left side.... I was like 7th out on the "Muenkel-jump" Runrunrun-Quick-right-turn-BANG-OwOwOw!-I'm falling! That big-ass bruise brought a smile to my face for days. What a fun plane. I got back to my home DZ and ask my RW skygod for exit advice on the DC-3 and he gets all thoughtful and replies "You go through the hole"
hooked 0 #105 October 11, 2002 Skygal3----There are a number of us here on the forum that don't have a lot of jumps. However, we all love skydiving. Reading your post is exactly how I feel--I am always thinking of skydiving--with every plane that flys over, with every aerial view, you name it, we are all addicted to this sport! Just keep posting, this is a great site to learn information. J TTL#5 -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings. I'm surprised someone didn't mention it. Center the door. If you try to dive towards the tail like an Otter, you will bang the tail side of the door. Exit straight out, and turn 90 degrees while immediately after exit. This will stand you up on your head, bring your arms to your sides and you will be in a head down dive towards the base before others even get stable. If you are first out, turn and face the plane, track up hard. If you do it right, you can see the top of the wing for a moment. If you get a chance to jump the super-connie, it has a pad on the tail side of the door. The prop blast at 155 blows you into the side before you can get completely out. You see a lot of people limping from banging their left ankle on that door. People yell "Remember, DC-3 exit" and most don't know what they are talking about, hence the limp. JakGramley 2 #116 October 12, 2002 QuoteOH, YEAH! Look at the Perris pictures in the pub. It's a freaking Turbine DC-3. Smooth as any jet, and fast as hell to altitude. I don't know where it's based. That particular aircraft is based at Cal City (the airport, not the skydiving facility). It's used to fly prospective land investors to Mexico. We are only able to get it to Perris on holiday weekends, when it isn't being used for the Mexico trips. One other interesting thing about it. The owner, Jahn, likes to do "gear checks". When it flies by you only get this WHOOSHing sound, not the deafening roar of a regular DC-3. Jack Gramley Computer Consultant
bbarnhouse 0 #117 October 12, 2002 I too enjoyd the quick ride to altitude in the Perris DC-3. The entire weekend was a blast, Good friends, good jumps, good fun. Although the DC in Planet Eloy isn't as quick, if you haven't experineced one you are in for a treat! I hope that everyone feels as welcome in Eloy as we were in Perris. Thanks again Jak!!! Cheers!! I have the funniest video of some old guy exiting on a fairly big way at Emerald Coast over the beach. Did the exact same thing. Goes running towards the back....right past the door....SLAM into the back wall and then kinda rolls out the door. I was kinda worried about him but felt better once I saw him flying towards the formation. Worst part was....we were jumping a Caravan. Man...that was the coolest solo I have ever done. Just me and a big green ocean!!! Swooping the hotties on beach towels was righteaous too!!!
