Deuce 1 #79 October 10, 2002 You better not be a complete not-nice-person. Several of us jumped out of a perfectly good turbine DC-3 just for you. We really wanted to go to Barnes and Noble to hear somebody talk about healthcare in Cuba, but we did a skydive just for you instead. Really. I've got it on video so it happened. Deuce 1 #86 October 10, 2002 My main fish! I have never landed in a perfectly good airplane. That particular airplane was just especially perfectly good for jumping out of, though! Is the DC-3 we are GOING to jump out of at Eloy one of those really slow oil-spewing ones? I have been wrecked for DC-3's by that one from Perris! Are you just going to stay with whichever hottie beds you at Eloy, or are you looking to split a room? JP
Sebazz1 2 #87 October 10, 2002 The DC-3 at Eloy will be one of the classic oil spewing DC-3's. I jumped out of it at Lost Prairie I believe. Still nice just louder and slower and with the benchesAccomodations are still in the works... I will let you know...
skygal3 0 #88 October 10, 2002 I've never landed in a plane, either...at all...oh well, helps me feel calmer the more altitde we get...because I know once I jump and have a bit of fun, my safety is pretty much all up to how I handle things... getting back to the subject at hand, if we want to exclude people by the number of jumps, maybe then I should not be here. I love skydiving, for the first time in my life I have found something I truely love doing, and being..and it feels so natural for me and such a huge piece of who I am. And I love listening to all of you talk,..unfortunately, my between my DZ closing now, the prez coming and grounding us on good days and the wind being too much of a factor on other days, I will probably most likely not get out of student status this season...which is eating me right now more than I can say. to be totally honest with you, i only have 2 jumps, less than most of you make in a day,,but I really feel as if this is a huge part of kate...my instuctor asked me if I was serious about pursuing this, I told him definately, yes, and he said he was glad to hear that because I have great awareness and I seem to be a natural (not at my landings tho). I long to get back up there, I long for the plane everytime I am behind a bus and smell the exhaust, I am fixated on how high that plane flying overhead may be, in movies when I see an aerial the first thing I think of is how cool it would be to jump that building or swoop that lake, and it kills me that I cannot jump as much as I would like to and it kills me that I may have to wait a season until i can start again, but there is not much I can do about it...I feel better listening to everyone talk, and up to now, I have only been concerned about "knowing too much to be dangerous"...I have never thought that only 2 jumps makes me a skydiver, but I am definately a skydiver in training...hopefully one day soon I will get my clearance...and if anyone of you guys wants me to stop posting until I get more jumps, well, feel free to pm anytime...but just remember it may be me buying beer at the next WFFC coming down from my first bi-plane! n2skdvn 0 #94 October 11, 2002 i've been reading the posts and what i see in this forum is a wealth of information. I started jumping almost 6 years ago(skybirthdays comming up). when i started looking on the net nothing like this was avalible. When i started freeflying what i learned was what i could scrounge off the net(witch wasent much). so i believe that this site has become the best resourse for sky diving on the net. We should encourage all newbies and wuffos out there to post. Ask the questions no matter how stupid they are ! they be pointed in the right direction! this comunitty has grown in the past year, and i think that is good. sangiro shoud get more credit than he gets from the skydiving community. This is his site. he pays for it.So lets welcome any intrested person to this site. this place has done more for the skydivine community than most people think!if my calculations are correct SLINKY + ESCULATOR = EVERLASTING FUN my site
PhreeZone 20 #95 October 11, 2002 I think that most the specialized fourms are better then sliced bread myself. I lurk them all and post when I can, but most recently it seems like talkback is just getting over ran with things thats while people might want to discuss, they have either been brought up so many times they are old but they don't like the answer of search, or all they do is waste the bandwidth by posting things that some of us would care not to know (How much Nathan likes his penis for example). Abuse of the polls is another example. They were only up for less then a week and they had to be removed since they were being abused. Polls about what type of poll you like to take about what color the sky is just wastes drive space and bandwidth. If the fourms would go away tommorrow I'd be very dissapointed, but I know most the content could be transfered to articles to get the info out to people looking for it. Most the stuff in talkback, while its fun.. does'nt do much to help pass on jumping specific knowledge. I've made good friends and even met my girlfriend in the talkback area... but I can bet its also the largest headahe. It takes 2 people to moderate and even then its some times not enough. Sangiro pays for this from his pocket and its not cheap the least we can do is respect it and not abuse it.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

hooked 0 #97 October 11, 2002 Phreezone--Your post makes a lot of sense and I am going to try to not post "waste of time" stuff. I agree, that alot of posts are a waste of time and I don't look at a lot of them so that is probably why things get 'double posted'.J -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings. Still nice just louder and slower and with the benchesAccomodations are still in the works... I will let you know... Whaaa? There is another kind? Riddle: How can you tell when a DC-3 is out of oil? It quits leaking. You can always tell a DC-3 newbie. The wing is shady and just low enough to put your hand up and lean on. The bottom is, of course, covered with oil. Then, they look at their hand, stop, hold it out and look around for where they can wipe the oil off. They find a patch of grass and do their best to clean their hand. Watch when one arrives sometime. They have those big plastic crates with tools and parts and then comes...the 2.5 gallon cans of oil. The only true 10-way speed. Out of a DC-3 baby! Super-floaters and swoopers hear me call.
bbarnhouse 0 #99 October 11, 2002 Quote. Most the stuff in talkback, while its fun.. does'nt do much to help pass on jumping specific knowledge. Was this the intent of the talk back forum? If so then I have sorely abused it. I thought it was a place for people to hang. Let's face it, if we didnt have this venue many of us would never have met, and gatherings such as those in Perris. Eloy and others would probably have never taken place. I agree with the poll....it was from the onset abused...that's part of the reason we are moderated. We can seem to police ourselves, unfortunate, but true none the less. B^
Deuce 1 #100 October 11, 2002 Quote Whaaa? There is another kind? OH, YEAH! Look at the Perris pictures in the pub. It's a freaking Turbine DC-3. Smooth as any jet, and fast as hell to altitude. I don't know where it's based. Such a big plane. Such a small door.
