ernokaikkonen 0 #1 October 14, 2002 How was the weekend? As you might have noticed from my other post, titled "bomb strikes", things haven't been that nice around here.
nacmacfeegle 0 #2 October 14, 2002 I read about the Bombing in Vantaa, glad your OK, pretty shocking stuff really. We normally assume Finland is a nice quiet place. I hope this was a "one off" crazy kid type thing. As for the bombing in Bali, well thats just horrific. Its still too early to point fingers or lay blame on organisations etc for either of these incidents, so I'm not goind to start that off. Just glad to see you are ok.-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. bluefingers 0 #3 October 14, 2002 Hey Erno Glad you're ok. Weekend was quiet. Went to a sorry excuse for a beerfest on Frid, rest of the time lazed around in the sun, drank beer, watched rugby, drank beer, dinner, drank wine, lazed in the sun, drank beer ... My weekend was spent outside Yemen due to the french oil tanker being blown up last week, so now im stuck in the middle between Yemen and Somalia in what is considered "safe" waters...im going home soon as the boat that going to take me off is coming... And back home in Sweden we mourn a loss of a BASE jumper. He was one of Sweden's most experienced BASE jumper, he died died in Lauterbrunnen during a wing suit jump. ernokaikkonen 0 #5 October 14, 2002 >Its still too early to point fingers or lay blame on organisations etc for >either of these incidents, so I'm not goind to start that off. My thoughts on the Vantaa-incident are on the other thread. I'm pretty sure no organization will be behind that one. The only question in my mind is whether he indended to kill himself(somewhere else, and the bomb went off accidentally), the innocent bystanders(the boomb went off when he was placing it), or both(the way it happened). ernokaikkonen 0 #6 October 14, 2002 >And back home in Sweden we mourn a loss of a BASE jumper A bad weekend indeed. Any details will probably be first posted on The BASE board. Blue skies, black death. He was the 13th BASE jumper to die in the sport this year. Erno

ernokaikkonen 0 #9 October 14, 2002 >I thought that Finland was a peaceful country. So did we... >Any news on the reason why the kid did that? Authorities have confirmed that he had problems with his mental health. Rumors say that he recently broke up with his girlfriend. Nothing conclusive so far. mouth 0 #10 October 14, 2002 Next thing you know you guys will be blaming the girls for what troubles the world. It really is terrible that so many base their happiness on another person when you really should be happy with yourself. BMFin 0 #11 October 14, 2002 Quote Its still too early to point fingers or lay blame on organisations etc for either of these incidents, so I'm not goind to start that off. yeah ..No organisation behind it... he was a 19 years old kid. (see pic) He was studying chemistry and had been interested in explosives for a while. I guess something just clicked... Because a lot of his knowledge came from the net, Now the stupid minister of the interior (Ville Itälä) wants to start restricting the freedom of speech in the internet... Thats just plain stupid if you ask me, but luckily no one is taking that idiot seriously...
