skybytch 273 #1 October 17, 2002 It wouldn't be a world record attempt without at least one weather day. Or at least that's what I was told. Funny how we didn't do a single jump but we still managed to have a great time today. Started with breakfast at 8 am. Overheard while waiting in line - Mallory: "We need to sacrifice something to the weather gods. Any virgins here?" And Wendy Smith raises her hand... btw, the staff at Perris and the JFTC volunteers are taking incredibly good care of us. The breakfast buffet table is always loaded with good stuff - fruit, yogurt, cereal, eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, french toast and a rotating entree (today was biscuits and gravy). Lunch is the same deal - lotsa good stuff! Jack told us if we needed anything at all, ask a staff member and they'll take care of it - I can't think of a single thing they haven't taken care of already. The whole big way event experience is just incredible, and it's the dz staff and the event volunteers who make it that way. Then it was off to meet with our plane captains. E plane (have I mentioned lately that E plane is the coolest plane to be in? ) met up in team room A. Watched video from yesterday and talked about it. Once Linda was done with us, we were "released" until 1 o'clock. Off to the Salvation Army with Kate and about 50 other people to get our outfits for Saturday night's polyester party. Those poor SA employees... we overwhelmed them. Imagine 40+ skydiving women pulling the tackiest 70's clothes we could find off the rack, then proceeding to try them on right there in front of the racks! Most of us had shorts and tshirts on, but Elena (from Russia with the body of a goddess) went all the way down to a thong!!! I managed to get a perfect ensemble - dress, shoes, bag, beads and earrings for under $5. Back to the dz we went. Most of us went down to the pool area and grabbed lunch. While waiting in the line, Ginger came along with a hat - Norman Kent had agreed that if we could raise $675 for JFTC from the girls on the load, he'd do a naked table dance for us. Hee hee.... After eating I went and grabbed my rig and helmet and hustled down to the mockup to do jam ups with my plane. Got that done, then it was time to get in jumpsuits and head out to the landing area for a dirt dive. This time we laid it down. Yes, that's what I said - we laid down on the grass in our slots and built the formation on the ground. Tony and Kate were figuring out our "angles" - the exact position in the sky that each of us need to be for this formation to build the best way possible. Ginger got up again and started collecting more for the "get Norman on the table" fund. Kate called him to the center of the formation and he laid down the "conditions." One - not naked, but wearing only a g-string. Two - he needed someone to help him undress... and he gets to choose who that person will be. (note - Norm's wife, Nicole, is on the load...) Once our fearless leaders were satisfied with our positions, Brad Hood was ready to take our picture from the tower they'd put in the landing area. He took two shots, then we rolled over and he took another one. That one was posted on the scoreboard later; it's a hilarious pic! When we got done there we were "on hold" until 3:30. Much milling about, picture taking, talking, laughing... Kate announced at 3:35 that a cloud dummy load would be going up to see if we could sneak one jump in or not. When the load all got out low for hop and pops, we all knew we were done. But, we waited for Kate to announce it. A bit after 4 she did. We were released to our plane captains for whatever they wanted to do with us. E plane's captain (E plane is the best!!! Wait, did I say that already?) wanted us to watch some video and do some more door jams. When the E team all arrived in room A, we were met with the video from the JFTC bikini dive done at ZHills. What an awesome group of guys! They were sooooo cute... The first 12 of us out the door in exit lineup then headed to the mock up to continue to dial in our exit position. After a few jam ups and run outs we had it down and were released to start drinking, go eat, whatever. I got my gear settled in for the night in ltdiver's team room (thanks again Lori! All in all, not a bad day, even though we didn't get up in the air once. Tomorrow, though.... tomorrow is gonna rock! Ted Wagner from Omniskore is bringing out the air to ground video set up so those stuck on the ground will be able to see us as we set the new women's world record! E plane is the coolest plane... everyone wishes they were on the E plane... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...

Did a little browsing on PerrisCam. Now, this photo doesn't really do her justice, but here's a picture of Elena with her team. She's the tall svelt woman in the teal colored jumpsuit, Javelin Odessy rig and white helmet. Kneeling in front. Elena btw, it's been really impressive meeting her this week! We know many of the same 4-way and 8-way Open competitors. She adores the Airspeed boys and get this.....she is the videographer for the Russian 8-way Open team! Yeah, the one that just took the silver medal this year in Empuria Brava! Wow! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
ltdiver 3 #18 October 18, 2002 Quote You drunk Lori??? Somehow I just can't picture that. Try as I may, I just can't Well, Keith...since we were supposed to have an early and full day today (thursday) in our JFTC endevour, I did not partake in that part of the celebration. That will come after the record is achieved! However, it is true that wherever Oscar is (video extrodinaire) there is bound to be too much fun! That, I found, it -very- true! He was LOVING it, having 30 women to himself last night! His grin just never stopped! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
