Time to be sappy.

Reading the thread about how well Drew was doing gave me an idea for a new thread.

Who is your hero? This is an opportunity to write some really positive stuff. It reminds us how awesome humanity can be.

My heroes are my parents. They inspire me all the time to do my best. They always put my siblings and I first, while not forgetting others in need. A few weeks ago, my mom managed to raise $35,000 in only 48 hours to airlift her neighbor from a hospital in Ireland to a hospital in Mass. To make a long story short, the neighbor was in a severe car accident while vacationing in Ireland. This car accident claimed the life of her sister. The neighbor was receiving really poor medical treatment and has been at death's door several times, mostly due to poor medical care. It was in her best interest to get her back in the states, but she required a special medically equipped plane. Cost: $35,000. Everyone was ready to write her off. My mom basically had the attitude...screw that...we'll get the money. And she did! I am happy to say that her neighbor is back in the states and is receiving excellent care. It will be a long recovery, but she is on the mend.:)
So who's your hero?

Lisa.....she obviously kicked some serious ass at the JFTC jumps. After being so nervous and skeptical she overcame it all to get the job done. I'm proud that I bought her one of those jumps!!! It was the record jump I'm sure......:D She wouldn't have used my $20 on one of the practice jumps....;)

This thread is dead. You shitty hijackers!

Actually, I think we're pretty good at it, we've been practicing for years...

My personal hero(s)?

I would have to say Scott West (Nathan Scott West) is one of my personal heros. If you have to ask who that is, then you probably don't know me very well.

That is because you get all dorky and "sappy" sometimes Muenkel. Me thinks you are like a Stuart Smalley. Your good enough, smart enough, and gosh darnit people like you!

Fuck you, you asshole. At least Clay has the decency to atleast pretend to play....I am so totally kidding here.:)
I do have a serious side to me, but most of the time I get accused of not being serious, but sarcastic. I can assure you, that I am not a dork. I'm just trying to pass an afternoon at my favorite website so I don't fall asleep at my desk.

OK AggieD, why?

My picture of a buddy just like this one was a guy who went through PLC with me. His name was Hans Weber. He was a very promising Officer of Marines and he died in a troop transport rollover in Germany. He was the all time champion of nogiveup.

I hadn't thought of him in a while, thanks for reminding me.

I've got lots of heroes, mostly their just people who get it right when the shit hits the fan.

Sorry Muenkel. Uh, back to our continuing coverage of BOOBIES!

Alright. That was Scott West, a buddy of mine that was in my outfit in the Corps of Cadets here at A&M. He didn't always do everything correctly, he couldn't run the fastest or the farthest, he didn't make the best grades, he didn't have the best uniform, but you know what he did? He never gave up, he never quit and he never stopped. He died 3 years ago this November when Bonfire collapsed (which I was supposed to be working on with him at the time). He loved Bonfire, he was at every cut (where we fell, cleared and cleaned the trees/logs) and often got in trouble due to sneaking out when he wasn't supposed to be at stack, to go work on Bonfire.

I have an endless list of heros. My parents for sure...they taught me unconditional love. My brother taught me about courage. Cher and Madonna put their asses on the line for what they believe in. My friend Bruce who put everything he got right back into this sport. Regina for being this amazing "rock", working to live the best of both worlds...being an educated attorney to an amazing freeflyer...while not one of her many obstacles ever made her head hang down, not once!!! JC for being the most experienced and the most passionate I have ever met in this sport...and the most beautiful canopy pilot in the world. Many skydivers...for their courage in commitment, following their hearts, soley based on passion...;)

Deuce, you bring up an excellent idea. Maybe HH can add to the rules forums:

The only acceptable excuse to hijack a thread is for BOOBIES!

You realize BOOBIES are the only thing we all agree on? Even the ladies love their BOOBIES!
