fastmartin2002 0 #1 October 22, 2002 they just had another news conference in montgomery county where chief moose gave details of a threat apparently from the sniper. the words were, "your children are not safe anywhere or at anytime." i hope they have a public hanging for the bastard whenever they catch him. i for one would personally attend with bells on! SpeedRacer 1 #2 October 22, 2002 Nearly all of the early morning shootings happen in & around Aspen Hill, so that's probably where the sniper lives. There was one shooting in Virginia at 9:30 AM, the rest of the Virginia shootings were in the afternoon or evening. So he probably drives down there, but lives in Aspen Hill. I wonder when the cops are going to start knocking on doors? Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------

SpeedRacer 1 #10 October 22, 2002 some musings: This is the one time where it might be safer to be in DC downtown, and not out near the beltway or highways leading in...The sniper seems to be hanging around Rte 97...all of the attacks happened in areas with quick access to highways... And he avoids traffic: Two killings happened exactly on the DC border, one right on the northeast border near rte 29 and one right on the southwest border near Rte 50. Both areas would have been trouble during rush hour, so the sniper did his shootings there at 9:20 PM (Oct 3)and at 9:15 PM (Oct. 14). The other shootings in Virginia were just South of Fredericksburg, during the day. This kinda makes sense. I've driven that route and the traffic is bad on I95 south of DC, but then suddenly thins out south of Fredericksburg. Moral: Do your shopping /get your gas in the middle of Montgomery county in some place that's a pain in the ass to get to from a highway. happythoughts 0 #11 October 22, 2002 "all of the attacks happened in areas with quick access to highways" A couple of years back, the FBI was looking into a string of bank robberiesin LA. Apparently, the robbers discovered the same thing. Find a drive-inteller near an expressway ramp. Easy getaway. Maybe I have a sick sense of humor, but the whole "Chief Moose" thing cracksme up. I keep getting a visual of Bullwinkle. Headline "Moose searches for squirrel." (I free-associate too much.)

SpeedRacer 1 #13 October 22, 2002 One further piece of evidence that the sniper lives around Aspen Hill: ALL of the shootings in the Aspen Hill area near 97 happened during morning and evening rush hour! This guy probably has a 9-to-5 job, and kills people on his way to and from work! OK, this last guy killed in the area, the bus driver, was shot at 6 AM. Probably the sniper wanted to get it out of the way before breakfast because he's got a busy day at the office. But think about it: If he's not bothered about killing during morning and evening rush hour in this busy area, it is probably because a) he doesn't have far to go and b) he knows the side streets like the back of his hand. So I'd bet that Aspen Hill/silver Spring is where he lives. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
Luna 0 #14 October 22, 2002 QuoteOne further piece of evidence that the sniper lives around Ashland: ALL of the shootings in the Ashland area near 97 happened during morning and evening rush hour! happythoughts 0 #16 October 22, 2002 I totally agree with you. The guy is staying in an area that he knows. He may live in a nearby area and drove a delivery truck there or something. Most of the serial killers that stay in an area eventually get caught.Exception - the Green River killer, Washington state - don't believe he was ever caught. SpeedRacer 1 #17 October 22, 2002 question for anyone who knows about guns: Just how powerful is this weapon? I think they said it is an AK74 with .223 caliber bullet. Is this thing powerful enough to penetrate a car door? Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
indyz 1 #18 October 22, 2002 I don't think that they know the make of the weapon. The only detailed witness statement that they've gotten turned out to be an outright lie.

Michele 1 #21 October 22, 2002 Hey, all... The communication Cheif Moose just gave was that the avenues of communication the sniper has requested is not able to be worked out. Communication seems to have come to a halt. Not good news. The good news is the caption which started this thread needs a little explanation. It was in the form of a post script, and was tacked on the end of the Ponderosa note. The body of the note has NOT been released, but to put it in context, some information was given out that no-one was safe, no gender, race, no one...and I would be willing to bet a JTix that during one of the communications which was successful, the negotiator asked for consideration for the children, ie "leave them out of it", and this was his direct answer. No Hallowe'en in that area this year...and voter turnout will be very slim, too, I suspect. Cheif Moose is in a really bad situation here...he is not able to do what he has done all his life, and that is protect and help. The shit has gone personal, looks to me, and I really feel badly for Chief. And btw, it's old news that the children are not safe - the 13 y/o child shot at school two weeks ago proved that indisputably. Morbid prediction: he will shoot again within the next 36 hours (likely within 12, but I'm hedging my bets), as a way of answering Moose's last conference. Quote Most of the serial killers that stay in an area eventually get caught. Exception - the Green River killer, Washington state - don't believe he was ever caught. They do have a suspect in some of the GR cases in custody. I haven't followed his trial, though, so don't know if he has been tried, or if he hasn't yet been. And I am not sure they have the right guy, either. Some interesting issues, IIRC, surrounding the suspect... A thought, though, about your comment...Bundy was caught, tried/convicted, and killed in Florida, and never tried for the WA state (or other area[Idaho, CO, OR, possibly CA and NV]) murders. One-Eyed whatshisname murdered across the country (if he is to believed), as has the I5 Killer (caught and jailed)(his area covered at least 5 states). And the Zodiak Killer has never been caught, despite his choice of location remaining pretty contained), although just recently one of the primary suspects was cleared with DNA... The stats indicate that there are, at any given time, upwards of 100 serial murders operating at one time, here in the US. Most serial killers do have an area within which they operate, and it usually is an area they have spent significant time in...and yes, know it like the back of their hand. I hope they get this guy, and get him soon. Unless he makes a major mistake, or someone near him talks, the chances are slim that will happen. He is not yet disintegrating, and still establishing and demonstrating control, which is his primary motivation There's another thread on 'who is this guy' which is an interesting read...Just a few thoughts tonight.... wlie 0 #22 October 22, 2002 I think this guy is some either some sick individual who is pissed off at the government, or some well trained terrorist. If I'm not mistaken, there was a sniper case around Seattle back in 1991. Don't know if he was caught. He was making a statement that he was opposed to the Gulf war and shooting motorists on I-5 was his delivery method. The shootings seem to start about the same time we are near to sending troops to go kick Saddam's ass. Coincedence? Or copycat? If you've ever seen sniper movies, 1) they always work in pairs, 2) they are seldom ever caught. This could very well be a test to see how authorities respond to "phantoms". And I'm not surprised to find "Sniper 101" offered in Bin Ladin University. Afterall, how do you think they resisted the Russians? My thoughts. My other ride is the relative wind. bmcd308 0 #23 October 23, 2002 If it is a .223, it will easily penetrate a car door. It is a very small bullet going very fast. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com

AK-47's shoot 5.45millimeter rounds, the M-16, M-4,and the AR-15, shoot the .223 calibre hornet round, those weapons make shoots up to and including 200-250 yards extremely possible, without a scope.
