Daizey 0 #1 October 24, 2002 I was just watching the news and I saw this story about a school in White Plains, NY. The principle at that school banned halloween saying that it only promotes violence, threatens safety, and it is not suitable for school. Students will have no parties, no costumes, and no candy! Teachers aren't even allowed to mention it..... What do you think? Do you agree?? *daizey*

Daizey 0 #6 October 24, 2002 HAHA I think it is soo ridiculous! I odn't even see how its violent. I mean...maybe late at night when people go out and throw eggs at cars and houses....but in school!? I always remember our Halloween parties being fun! I don't understand where the violence or the fact that it is innapropriate comes from. And the fact that it is a threat to safety....I just don't understand. Maybe its the fact that Halloweeen is supose to all spooky and scary and stuff....? Oh yeah, did i mention that i believe this was an elementry school?? *daizey*

skymama 37 #8 October 24, 2002 When my kids were a lot smaller and growing up in AL, we ran into the same thing since it is a very religious area. We wern't allowed to celebrate Halloween at their school, it could only be called a "Fall Festival". And, none of the treats and goodies we bought for the parties could have those evil things on them like bats, ghosts and witches. Oh no, we could only have things like pumpkins and scarecrows on them. Yea, fun!She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

weegegirl 2 #10 October 24, 2002 There is a woman I work with, who is kind of an obsessed born again Christian. Okay, she's a super Jesus freak. She has five children, ages 3 to 17 and she won't let them celebrate Halloween or even mention it. She says that it goes against everything that she believes in - witches and goblins and all the evil stuff that God tells you to stay away from. I feel like sneaking over to her house when she's not there and giving her kids some candy.

A few years after we were married, my ex became a Jehovahs Witness. No Christmas, Halloween, Valentines Day, birthdays, Easter... Yep, Halloween was originally a Druid festival. So what! No one believes thatlittle kids are really goblins or ghosts. They are just little kids gettingdressed up and having fun.
