I'll have fun no matter how much it hurts

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I went to a work party. Free food, free wine, free beer. Sounds like a deal, right?
Well, Houston, particularly my part, had torrential rains, and this was in a covered outdoor pavilion. The rain was so loud we couldn't hear the skits, the floor of the pavilion was concrete that had about 1/2 inch or more of water collected. The rain was blowing at least 6 feet into the pavilion because of the strength of the wind. I wore my raincoat under the roof. The food was wet. I stayed 1 1/2 hours!
This has to rank as one of the silliest ways to have "fun". It WAS free beer, wine, and food. But dang. It was right up there with downhill skiing at 20 degrees below zero fahrenheit. Not nearly as much fun as showing up at the DZ when it's rainy.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
