sangiro 26 #1 October 27, 2002 Further to Paul's post about dropzone.com indexed by news.google.com Until now Google has only been able to spider the static pages on Dropzone.com - meaning all dynamic content like the forums were skipped. Obviously there are loads of information in the forums that I would like to see indexed by the major search engines to drive visitors to the site. I've implemented a feature today that will enable search bots to crawl the forums as well. So, expect that anything you post here will be searchable by people who go to sites like Google (not only the news section of those sites!) within the next few weeks or however long it takes that bot to pass by here again. A quote from Paul:QuoteI think at this point we should remind folks of the general netiquette concept that anything you write on dropzone.com can be used for research purposes by people you may not have intended, including but not limited to; lawyers, reporters, ex-spouces and stalkers. Think before you hit the Post button! Safe swoops Sangiro
ernokaikkonen 0 #2 October 27, 2002 Are you sure the bots haven't been able to crawl the forums? Some time ago someone posted a message where he quoted the 'who's online' page, which showed a few dozen registered users, and 150(or some other ridiculously high number) of guests... I know DZcom has been becoming more and more popular but that popular? And I don't think it's all that common to see over a hundred guests here? Just some random speculation on my part. sangiro 26 #3 October 27, 2002 QuoteAre you sure the bots haven't been able to crawl the forumsYup, some smaller ones probably have.... ...but pick your favorite phrase like let's say "Eloy Boogie Info" (or pick something that has been posted a while ago) and search for that on Google now. Keep doing that over the next few weeks and you'll see what I mean.Safe swoops Sangiro
mountainman 0 #4 October 27, 2002 Sangiro - will the bots be able to pick up email addresses now too from our profiles? Also, does this mean that junk mail bots can do the same? Or, are those protected somehow? Thanks.http://www.brandonandlaura.com
sangiro 26 #5 October 27, 2002 The only pages that will be indexed are the Forum Main page, Forum View and Post View (flat). Your email address should not appear anywhere in there....Safe swoops Sangiro

TheBile 0 #9 October 28, 2002 QuoteI would like to see indexed by the major search engines to drive visitors to the site. Sex. Lesbianism. Star Wars. Britney Spears. Naked. Aliens. Midgets. Porn. Free. Pamela Anderson. Guns. Cats. Dogs. Conspiracy. Brad Pitt. There you go. This should help Dropzone appear in most people's searches on Google.Gerb I stir feelings in others they themselves don't understand. KA'CHOW !

miked10270 0 #13 October 28, 2002 Of course their bots can spell... Remember that they're not just looking for the smart "enemy of society", they've gotta catch the thick ones as well, the ones who're thick enough to send stuff like this without encrypting it forst are unlikely to spell d' wurds all that gud... like.
