VectorBoy 0 #27 October 24, 2002 Quote Does anyone own/shoot a Desert Eagle? I would like to see what's its like. Yeah I got one in 357 mag .Got it from a friends brother suffering a divorce sale, and was going to put it up for resale. At first I thought it was a gimmicky gun just too big. After plinking cans at fairly long range I was really impressed with its accuracy and decided to keep it. After the girls get freaked out shooting some friends of mines Anaconda or super redhawk they usually say no way to the eagle," its to big". Then I insist and they find out how sweet it is I'm usually out a box of ammo or two. There is less recoil ( due to gas operated locking bolt and the slides shear mass) than any other auto I own ( .40 9mm )except .22cal in larger framed pistols. It ends up being really manageable even at high rates of fire. Although I have seen impressive shooting by a select few "revolver-smiths" on cable TV, I can't do or personally know anybody who can shoot massive magnum rounds out of a revolver as easily as that desert eagle. dunesurfer 0 #28 October 24, 2002 Guns are one of my "other" hobbies. I have a pretty good collection of different pieces but can't find much time to shoot anymore. The outdoor area I used to frequent was closed a few years back, and the indoor ranges just aren't fun cos I can't fire the rifles in them Anyone want to host a "jump n shoot weekend" ? Stik 0 #29 October 24, 2002 I once read about the"chute and shoot weekend" when the competitors have to jump for accuracy and then shoot in three stages. They have to shoot rifle, pistol and submachinegun and the winner get a new main. You have to have a D license. I am going to compete as soon as I get D rated. stik
mnischalke 0 #30 October 24, 2002 I like guns. Come to think of it, if it weren't for guns, I would have to find another way to pay for jumps, and ahh, food, and hmmmm, oh yeah, the roof over my head... Actually, guns are great. I might even have a couple of my own laying around here somewhere... Fasterfaller, I think the two times you mention NFA firearms actually being used in commision of crimes were since 1934. Please correct me if I am wrong. peace, mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills. With all this interest in guns and parachutes, this could become a big event. At my dz, we've been talking about competitions with tandem riders engaging targets while in the pattern. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills. jose 0 #33 October 24, 2002 I have many guns and a big firesafe to store them in. Guns and hunting has always been in my life since as far as I can remember. Hunting is one of my first loves and I still hunt regularly, though I hunt big game with a bow now. I believe that all states should allow the right to carry a concealed weapon such as my state. Yes I do have a permit and I carry on occasion. Its a very liberating feeling to be able to carry a loaded handgun with me, but its also terrifying to think what would happen if I actually had to use it. Anyone that thinks that America should ban all guns and abolish the 2nd amendment should have the constitutional right to life and liberty taken from them. cop 0 #36 October 24, 2002 I own two pistols and four rifles and I go target shooting few times in a month. In Finland we don't carry guns for protection and if you want permit to carry gun you need to be a member of hunting or target shooting club. But almost every male go to army in age between 18-22 and learn how to use few kind of army weapons. "You can call me Mike"
Scratch 0 #37 October 24, 2002 As with most South Africans my age I am comfortable with the use of a variety of firearms. I enjoy shooting but hate them in the house. I have seen too many accidents of all kinds and how easily they happen to have those things too close to those I care about. One whoops....bang...and your world turns to shit. AggieDave 6 #38 October 24, 2002 I don't believe in "gun accidents" I believe in idiots who don't know how to properly use, clean, store a firearm. There is no reason that a child should EVER have the ability to get near a firearm, unattended. On another note, I grew up with many firearms in the house, did I ever get into them without my father? Hell no! Funny how when you teach someone from an early age about stuff like that, they grow up responsible about it. newshooter12 0 #39 October 24, 2002 I'm in the process of applying for my NY pistol permit. My grandfather was a Sea Bee with a number of pistol trophies. I can't wait to try for a few. Just about a couple weeks ago I went to a media shoot the FBI hosted and had a blast shooting a Glock 23, Sig 229, MP5 (9MM semi) and an MP5 (10MM semi/burst). It was pouring rain so bad with a low ceiling that they rescheduled the Helo demo, but it was the most fun I've ever had in the rain.... matt

Skystorm 0 #43 October 24, 2002 I owned a Rossi .38 Special, short barrled. Scratch 0 #45 October 24, 2002 Quote It was stolen from my house in a housebreaking last week Thursday Oh shit...the cops must love you right now. I had a break in two years back. The first thing the police asked.."Any guns stolen" Interesting thing was that I have a gun safe ( The gun was sold a long time ago) and the burglers wasted all their time trying to get into it so when they were interrupted they ended up with nothing at all. quatorze 1 #46 October 24, 2002 Quote I owned a Rossi .38 Special, short barrled. It was stolen from my house in a housebreaking last week Thursday. I hope you gave them the serial numbers. A friend of mine lost 3 firearms about 5 years ago in a robbery. He was able to give the Police the serial numbers to the guns and guess what, last January he got the last one back. The first two came back with in the first two years. If the weapon is not used in a crime by the theif and he tries to sell it, there is a fairly good chance that sooner or later it will get back to you. newshooter12 0 #47 October 24, 2002 Quote NY has a CCW? I don't think I realized that. Texas does, though "CCW" ??? We have "carry concealed restricted" = "target & hunting" (which I'll more than likely get), "unrestricted concealed carry" (if you can prove necessary for personal protection, "possess on premises" and "possess/carry during employment" Except NYC you can't own a pistol unless you're a police officer. Was the FBI demo by the HRT? The HRT was there... the one demo was based on a hostage rescue. One entry team and three snipers, plus support personel and negotiators etc... the other part of the demo was by the bomb tech... he used "unconventional" means to "neutralize" a mock mail bomb in a closed mail box... Basically remotely used a blast of water through a pipe (that looked like a mortar) to blow the mailbox/mock letter bomb to lots of small parts. matt

Kennedy 0 #50 October 24, 2002 Somehow, New Yorkers with "juice" mange to get CCW good everywhere in the state except NYC. Donald Trump's got one. Willim F Buckley's got one. Ditto Laurence Rockefeller. Same for Howard Stern. You, me, the single mother of two in the Bronx and merchant crossing Queens at 4am? fugeddaboudit ------------- I've shot more guns than I can think of. Owned only two. [past tense, state of MD, if you're reading this] I interned with the Firearms Examination Unit in Prince Georges County over the summer. SO COOL!! I actually stripped thier Desert Eagle down to single parts. Hell of a lot harder than the M16. More fun though. Anyway, I don't own any right now because it would be illegal here in Maryland or so restricted it'd be basically useless. Will own and carry as soon as I get out of here. ps - I've put more holes in paper than probably everyone here has in clouds. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
