Ever Had a DZ Refuse to Let You Jump? Why??

Recommended Posts

There is one guy I know of who has been told that he is not welcome back at my home DZ. This was due to him consistently pulling below 800 feet. First time he did it he was grounded, then first jump back he smoked it again. Personally, I'm all for low pulling but it was decided he was too much of a liability. Oh yea, and I'm told that he static lined a local 220 foot bridge slider up with a skydiving rig (he did remove the D-bag however) and subsequently sniveled into the river below at high speed, ruining the cypres he had not bothered to remove. This revelation did not help his considerable image problem around the DZ.

Had some dude up from Arizona last year and he hadn't jumped in about 6 months so the DZO had him do a hop-n-pop. The dude was pissed because he had a couple thousand jumps and felt he didn't need to do no damb hop-n-pop that he should be able to go right up to full altitude with everyone else. Well the DZO put him out and had him hang from the wing strut (cessna 185) like a student. Get this when he let go he gave the DZO a double birdie and then fell to 2000 and pulled. By the time the DZO got down the dude had already gotten into his car and left.

I think current count at the DZ is 10+ kicked off and another few the DZ would'nt care if they ever returned. The DZ is a no drug DZ.. one offense and your outta there forever. Assult the DZO's kids and you can kiss your jump career good bye there. I watched 2 last year get kicked for 1)still being hung over midafternoon and being really lazy(DZ staff that just stumbled awake) and 2) for issues that don't need to happen on a DZ.

I like the DZ for its stance on stuff like this.

***I've been denied at one DZ for having a reserve out of date by 2 days. On a calendar by 3 months I still had 2 days but they actually counted the days out to see when it expired since I was close then wanted big bucks for me to use rental gear. I had other issues with this DZ. The other 12 DZ's I've jumped at are really cool places...

You should always bring your pencil and you will never have that problem again .

Yesterday is history
And tomorrow is a mystery

I have been kicked out of a few gestapo dropzones in my life and one time for a low pull contest . I got kicked out of one dz for swooping under a set of power lines and carving between two buildings , I followed three locals under the line and got the boot . I got kicked out of one for bitching about them not using the king air for a $99 boogie and have a 40 minute ride for every jump . I have been refused because of my small main canopy at two small dropzones . The only one I really deserved was the low pull one .

He should have just snuck on a load and got current .

pulling below 800 feet

A statistic waiting to happen.

If you pull low and snivel, bad things happen.
Like all things, you may get away with it for 1000 times. The 1001st you snivel. I've had a few DZOs tell me to pull higher, I do now.
I used to think it happened to other people.
It did. It has happened to a few friends.
