lummy 4 #1 October 29, 2002 reposted with Ryan's permission From: Ryan Gifford - Action Air Parachutes Date: Mon Oct 28, 2002 8:20 am Subject: NCFFF Just wanted to thank everyone for the absolutely wonderful weekend! The First Annual NorCal FreeFly Festival was a total and complete success, despite some early set backs (a broken water main, a slightly "bruised" CASA - pictures on the SkyDance site soon this AM- and a broken Keg Tap or two) we managed to have a Boogie to beat most Boogies!! There were some great skydives organized by TEAM JANK (thanks so much for all your help guys!) and Roger Ponce put together some really nice RW dives. Hybrids were everywhere and there was simply a great atmosphere for all involved. The weather was about as perfect as you could hope for with clear blue and 72 for most the days. The Film festival was put together perfectly, with some really good progressive stuff that left everyone screaming for more. Look for a bigger and better (is that possible???) film festival next year at the SECOND annual NCFFF. Thanks to Dr. Science himself for mixing and supplying the tunes for the evening, great job! Folks, if you missed this one, you missed out...period. Officially, there were just over 140 registered jumpers on the list. Two cutaways and no injuries later we consumed: 4-kegs of beer 6 bottles of Tequila 2 bottles of Jack 2 bottles of Vodka a bottle of Gin a bottle of Drambui all at the now officially opened "Sunset @ SkyDance" Tiki Bar. Again, thanks for a great weekend! For anyone who wasn't there or didn't hear, I made my first jump back since my injury 4-months ago. There was a butterfly or two on board with me at exit, but it all went beautifully, so thanks to those involved! Thanks guys, we all had a great time. Pics will be up on the SkyDance website in an hour or two! Ryan pics can be found here scroll down on the left to the NCFFF linkI promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. skybytch 273 #2 October 29, 2002 So they got the CASA fixed in time to use it for the weekend? We heard about that down at Paso on Friday night. Is it bad form to admit that we were snickering?

No, bad form would be to NOT admit to snickering! Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them? lummy 4 #8 October 29, 2002 I was drinkin a beer at the Sunset watching the formation load land. One guy looked like he bounced, did a cartwheel like PLF then flew back into the air and landed it about 30 ft upwind... So what'd you do to yourself mr Hopper man?I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. lummy 4 #9 October 29, 2002 thanks from Bob Ash and Team Jank.. From: Bob Ash Date: Mon Oct 28, 2002 1:37 pm Subject: Thank You Hey everyone. I'm glad to hear everyone had such a great time this weekend. Saturday night was a bit hectic for us and we really never got a chance to thank some of the people that made this boogie possible. Thanks to Ray, Neal, Ryan and J.P. for having the balls to let us try this. A little faith goes a long way. Thanks to Kurt Issel, Evan Mortimore, Chris Salcone and Stefano for letting us show thier video projects. It is no easy task going through years of video looking for the best clips. Thank you to Cary and Ryan in manifest for keeping things flowing so smoothly. A big Thanks to Russell for putting together a great meal on Saturday. Thank you to Brad Style for being Brad Style. Thank you to Michele Israel for helping us keep our sanity Saturday evening. Thank you to whoever it was that spent all night fixing the Casa. We had backup options, but come on, that plane was AWESOME! A big huge thanks to Sean Science for not only putting out some great music on Friday and Saturday, but also for putting up with us in our stressful moments and having to put up with people messing with his equipment, grabbing the microphone, etc. Alcohol: Gotta love it!!! I'm sure I am forgeting someone. Oh yeah, a big thanks to Chris, Scott and Paulie from Guano for organizing some fantastic skydives. But most of all we want to thank all of you! We had almost 150 skydivers registered and this event was even bigger and better than we could have imagined. The Norcal love was in full effect this weekend and we can't thank you enough for all of your support. Now that we got that one out of the way, all I've got to say is Wait Until Next Year!!! Peace and Love, Team JankI promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. eat sushi, get smoochieTTK#

Spy38W 0 #12 October 30, 2002 Quoteso I closed the door on my way out and mangled my finger pretty good. that is why I was using a packer on sunday. Uhm, not a good idea. I used to always think how nice I would be if I closed the door when I was the last one out until I found out that if you do this and the pilot window is open, the door will blow in off the track. -- Hook high, flare on time

I used to always think how nice I would be if I closed the door when I was the last one out until I found out that if you do this and the pilot window is open, the door will blow in off the track. urban legend, perhaps? the pilot will generally operate the window independantly of the door being open or closed, for their own comfort level. I have done this numerous times, and at least 3 pilots have thanked me for it. not a single one has ever expressed any concern over it, other than to find out how I did it. I guess it can get quite cold on the descent with the door open.
