skybytch 273 #1 October 30, 2002 Wow. My son is off work and at home today; he called me an hour or so ago to tell me that there was a high speed chase going on in our town. He's had the scanner on and has been giving me updates. As of right now the bad guys are holed up in a house inside which there is confirmed one person dead, unknown number of "187" (murder) suspects with automatic (or at least semi-automatic) weapons. Two officers have been injured; unknown if they were both shot or by who, unknown condition. Streets surrounding the house have been closed and neighbors evacuated. Pretty much every cop from the three surrounding towns plus damn near every deputy from the county sheriff's department, the SWAT team, the hostage negotiator, the Life Flight medivac helicopter, the county Sheriff's dept. helicopter and who knows how many other emergency services types are on scene. My parents live about a mile south of where all this is going on. My dad is a volunteer with the local PD; mom hasn't heard from him and he isn't at the office so we're assuming he's out doing traffic control...
