MS Flight Simulator 2002

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a copy of MS Flight Simulator 2002 and I am TOTALLY HOOKED!!! This is so sweet. I have spent about 10 of the past 24 hours flying C182, 747-400, Learjet45, and Bell chopper.
I just got done flying from LAX to AOH in a Learjet 45 at FL350 at 280kts. This is such a sweet game. I set the autopilot on, went out and did some errends and came back. Didn't communicate much with ATC through AZ, NM, or OK, but oh well...hehe.
If anyone want to try it, I suggest getting it if your computer can handle it. It is great!!!

No... But there is a Caravan
Brandon... you can take off and land at both Richmond and SGC

Acutally, the Caravan is on the Professional edition and I wasn't about to spend an extra $20 for a couple more planes and some more learning stuff.
Also, my first flight yesterday was from Richmond to Xenia airport. I flew around where it said SGC was, but it is all grass, so it's hard to find. I just figured if I laned across town, you would be able to pick me up. ;)
Oh yeah.....does anyone know where you can go to download more planes and things of that sort? Thanks!!

Thanks for the links!! Hopefully I can find some good stuff to fly. I finally have a joystick that I'm borrowing. It is much easier fly with...especially with the throttle control.
Yesterday evening, I flew from Pensacola Reg airport to Cancun Intl, then to Cozumel, refueled and then flew back to Pensacola. All of this was in a 182 with retractable gear that I broke off on landing in Pensacola. Hahaha!!

I have the 2000 edition and it rocked, havent played since putting XP on my desktop last year. I am thinking about getting 2002 Pro. When I was using the 2000 edition it was running on a AMD 533 with 128 megs and an integrated 8MB video[:/]. It worked OK but you had to set scenery detail lower to run smoothly. For anyone using 2002 how does it run on your system (what are the specs)?? Thanks.

I need something to mess with this winter

I only have 2000 pro, but I have downloaded 2 porters (one skydiver, one extended range), 2 Twin Otters, a dragonfly (:o) and some other cool planes - the porter climbs like crazy when i's empty - I got it to take off with no flaps in about 30 metres.

It's like something out of that twilighty show about that zone

No... But there is a Caravan :)***

I have the pro edition and I think the caravan has pontoons. my dropzone airport, much like the rest of our state, is very flat, not much scenery. although the beacon is on the other side of the hanger in real life. the only other major building near crete is the state capital building, and that's no where near what the real one looks like. I call it the penis of the prairie, no really, that's our state capital.

It's funny you're showing the passion of flying that I once had (before I became a skydiver). A couple of years ago I was spending a fair amount of time on the home based flight simulator and the girlfriend at the time encouraged me to go for a discovery flight. Well the next thing you know, I was enrolled in some real world flight lessons and a few months later (and thousands of dollars spent on lessons, flight time and flight gear), I was a licensed pilot.

Could the same thing happen to you (only in reverse)?

Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I have 2002 too. I fly just about every real life flight i'm going to do before i do it. Course i usually do it in a much faster plane in the simulator, but its still realistic enough to give me an idea of the scenery along the route so i can be familiar before i do the real thing. Get yourself some addon planes. I suggest http://www.flightsim.com. Gotta register (free) but you can download hundreds of types of planes/helicopters. I try just about every new twin otter that comes out. Can't find one that truly flies like the real thing though.
