skycat 0 #1 October 29, 2002 Hey all you CO jumpers, well and anyone who wants to come up or down depending where you are. Skydive The Rockies will have a caravan both weekends. Can you say goodie....big door! Anyway for those that have never been there, they have a large flat landing area, and as far as I can tell with no cactus. There may be some if you land off, but I've lucked out and not had to find out. As a bonus I've managed to talk our own hooknswoop into giving a little seminar each Saturday night covering things such as canopy control, gear maintenance, tracking, ect... So come on down and join us, it should be a good time.Fly it like you stole it!
CanuckInUSA 0 #2 October 29, 2002 Is there a place to sleep, or should I be bringing my winter camping gear? (assuming of course I decide to make the trek down to Canyon City) Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
skycat 0 #3 October 29, 2002 Well they don't have a bunkhouse or anything, but I bet if there is a need, something could be worked out. Heck if there is enought people I'll make my imfamous jello shots. Fly it like you stole it!
CanuckInUSA 0 #4 October 29, 2002 Kelli I'm not sure who else would be willing to travel around the state to get some jumps in (I may be able to convince one or two of my peers now that they are licensed to come with me). But with the weather turning cool and the tandems slowing down at Mile-Hi I have to wonder if I'll be standing around for hours waiting for a load to fill up in Longmont. So with that in mind, I am up for doing a little travelling in November (assuming the whuffo boss doesn't expect me to work weekends) to make sure that I can get some jumps in (of course clear skies would help). I am still planning on visiting Brush on one weekend in November and I will try and visit Canyon City on at least one of the two weekends you speak of. Camping out might not be a bad idea to try (if I can camp out in Colorado in late November then camping in Eloy over the holidays will be a piece of cake). Now where's that down jacket and thermal underwear of mine? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
skycat 0 #5 October 29, 2002 Well the extended forcast for Nov 9th is in the 60s so I'm hoping it stays that way. If enough belly fliers come out I'm hoping to working on my organizing skills by putting together some small ways (8-way or less)Fly it like you stole it! konradptr 0 #6 October 29, 2002 Ouch, forecasting 10 days into the future in Colorado? I'll go out there just for the change, and that has nothing to do with Mile-Hi slowing down, and having to be there 6 hours for 2 jumps... Counting down the days until I get done with school this time, and can leave Colorado for a skydiver-friendly state.... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad...... CanuckInUSA 0 #8 October 29, 2002 You were able to jump on Sunday? Oh man ... It was overcast all day on the front range and I didn't get to jump. Had I know Canyon City was clear I would have drove down there. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

bps 0 #12 October 31, 2002 Hello Everyone -- A lot of us regulars are thinking about getting 3 or 4 rooms at the Canon Inn. It's about 5 or 6 minutes from the DZ and more importantly, they have 5 or 6 different hot tubs in an indoor garden room. I'm thinking with a handful of beer-induced skydivers at night, things could get interesting. As the weekend of the 9th/10th gets closer, I'll PM everyone on this post with details... (lots of floor space) Blue Skies, Bryan
