freeflir29 0 #1 November 4, 2002 1(Number of my trashed cameras):6:0 Damn what a weekend. Friday kinda sucked. I worked til 5 PM and then drove around for pretty much the next 4 hours on my way to the DZ. Finally, around 9 PM we get there. Drank too much, stayed up too late, and generally had fun. Got up Saturday morning to beautiful skies. Hopped on a Casa load and did a 5 way free fly with some of the regulars just to get warmed up. After that a friend asked me to shoot video on his girlfriends tandem. The slot was on him. Sweet!!!! Free Jump!!!! Scared myself a little.....I ended up over the top of the tandem on exit. Not used to shooting them out of a Casa. The video came out great!!! Then I did outside video for Rook and ....I think his name was Kyle or something like that. That was fun watching them rip it up. Didn't make it on the last load......Load #13. I did however watch a friend have a bag lock and another guy smoke it low with a hard pull. He eventually went to silver but DAMN it looked low. He kept it above the Cypres though. Saturday night rolled around......Free Heineken in the Keg. I'll just say I had plenty of that....Had a great time with everyone. Chris cooked his famous BBQ ribs and chicken. Danced a bunch. Then I remember looking at my watch and saying loudly...."WTF......how in the hell did it get to be 6 AM?" Caught a few hours sleep in the video room. Then got up for Casa load 2. Did a "Lemon drop" exit with Lyle and Travis. Basically 3 across the Casa ramp with elbows locked. Ball up and roll off. Well....a few seconds out the door Travis comes whipping around and right into me. You see my hand in the video pushing him away. What I didn't know was that at that moment, My camera had just gotten THRASHED!!!!!!! Basically the entire front of the camera just about fell off. I guess it took all the force right on the WA lens. Oh well....that's why I paid the $45 for the all inclusive parts and labor warranty when I bought it. Next jump was a 4 way HD with Stuey from Monkey claw. Nice exit to a right hand flower. I'm all good.....switch to left hand and I got stupid!!! Slid out of my slot. Then I over corrected and got all stupid and had to let go. The clouds were moving in so we had gotten out at 11,000 anyway. Did a little more flying around in a sit till break off. Next jump was a 3 way flower with outside camera from 6K. I was with 2 locals that are still learning to fly on their heads. I was kinda suprised when the exit came off PERFECTLY. I had to work the legs a little to keep it stable but it was sooo nice. Left about 5000 and had a sweet opening and a little bit of a dead man on the landing. Watched the punkin chunkin late in the day and it was pretty much raining by then so we turned on the beer light. Finally got everything packed up and got back home by about 1130PM last night. Of course.....I'm draggin ass today!!! I would like to say thanks to Tim and Trey (SD ATL DZO's), Monkey Claw, Rook, and that crazy belly guy with no shoes....what's his name.....Oh yeah....Roger.
