Derekbox 0 #1 November 5, 2002 I had a brake line knotted today (I think it was malicious). Since it is a safety issue, I posted it there. If you could take a look, Id appreciate it. Derek
lummy 4 #2 November 5, 2002 Ya know Derek, I had that happen last week to me as well. I noticed it after my first jump of the day. I'm the only one who packs it so I'm the only one to blame. The only thing I can think of is that my excess brake line (that is stowed under the toggle must've gotten underneath one another and I got when I released the brakes. It was pretty tight, so I doubt it happened after I landed....I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. Casch 0 #3 November 5, 2002 That is F'n scary! I haven't been in the sport very long, but I feel pretty darn safe at my DZ and I trust that no one would F*&^ with my stuff. Now that I hear this it makes me wonder...I really hope that this was an accident and I'm glad it didn't become a real mess for you. WFFC 1 #4 November 5, 2002 Had something similar a few weeks ago. It's posted here. Basically, and it can be seen in the video when slowed down, the brake line stow was pushed over the top of the grommet in the toggle. Made mental note to beat packer when I got to the ground. ----- ~~~Michael
nacmacfeegle 0 #5 November 5, 2002 Okay, befor eyou cry "foul", I had a brake line knot up the way you described. I figured at teh time that it was caused by stowing the excess line thru the attachment point where the slinks are......Pleased to see you made down without further drama....-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Rdutch 0 #6 November 5, 2002 I would be very careful with this Derek. Acusations like this are extremely serious. If there was someone out there that malicious, to place you into a potentially fatal situation, then this should be looked into with great debth. Chances are this was a packing error (Hopefully). You should check everything out before you post to the world that someone tried to kill you! It wouldnt be the first time someone pulled a toggle through the excess, and had a loop knot in their steering line. I wasn't at the Dz when it happened, but I know your rig, were the line's stowed in the holder's, behind the riser's, or just hanging loose? Once again I would be careful before you start making serious accusation's of this nature. If someone did do that, it is very serious situation. This is a potential legal matter.
