Scoby 0 #26 November 6, 2002 Come on, be real. What has he damaged exactly? I don't even understand why people get their panties in a bundle over him. If I was the conspiracy type, I'd believe the "controversy" is entirely manufactured to sell records. He's a moderately talented guy whose managed to parlay a crappy childhood into some money and fame. i congratulate him on that.
adamT 0 #27 November 6, 2002 Anyone who is slightly intrested in him should try to locate and listen to "Infinite" I doublt you will be able to find it legit. Even underground hiphop shops probably won't have it. So your only bet is somewhere that sells pirated music or the file sharing networks and irc channels. It really is facinating the compare his attitude in that album to his new stuff. I think it came out originally in 96'. He talks about having a baby on the way. And he talks about having a less then perfect life, but not in the same negitive way he does now. There are actually some very possitive songs on it. His talent isn't as developed as it is today but its there. And the beats can't compare to what Dre produces. I found quite intresting. adam EDIT: there are some cds on ebay and you can find the lyrics all over the net.

However, I believe there is entirely too much reverence displayed in our culture for people and things that don't deserve them, and this "Eminem" character is the most egregious symptom/symbol of that collective mass pathology, fueled by the monied creeps in the entertainment biz, who, when criticized, say "We're only giving the people what they want!" And every time I read about how hard it is for show-biz types, it makes me want to state one of my pet phrases, which is: "Gosh, I just can't stand to see the rich and famous suffer!" heh I've talked about celebs before. Most of them are just cool folks that give everything to their craft (and are generously compensated for it [or not. Remember, there are a lot of starving actors out there]). I just don't think the words "rhyme" and "reason" fit well together with respect to this individual. Sorry for the ramblings."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." adamT 0 #30 November 6, 2002 I don't find him nearly as disturbing as all the other fabricated pop that is shoved down the throats of teenage kids all over the country. At least he writes his lyrics. Backstreet boys, brittney spears, american idol, now that shit makes my skin crawl. adam
goose491 0 #31 November 6, 2002 QuoteAnyone who is slightly intrested in him should try to locate and listen to "Infinite" I will do just that thanx! Like I said, I didn't buy it right off the bat but then I got to thinking about some of the things he says... I kinda like his style... true that Dr. Dre can't touch him but still... I really don't think it's cool to verbally threaten the life of someone (nevermind the mother of your child) so oppenly.. How can he get away with that? And how could he ever expect to get his son back while vocalizing such violent thoughts? Poor guy. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
Pammi 0 #32 November 6, 2002 I have heard that Eminem actually can act pretty decently. It'd be worth seeing just to see if it were true.
Pammi 0 #33 November 6, 2002 QuoteI can't believe anybody would pay good money to listen to or see that jackass (I have another name for "Eminem" that I don't use in polite company). Really, he must have made a pact with Satan to be so popular and successful. It certainly isn't because he has any talent. Speaking of Jackass...anyone actually go see THAT movie?? I don't think I could handle it. Besides it sounding like a total waste of film...it sounds pretty disgusting. Pee'ing on snow then eating it is entertainment?!?! Yeah, I actually went to see it when I was stuck in SC on work last weekend. It was a lot like the show, but without as much censorship. I laughed out loud a few times (I was the only person in the theatre, so why hold back) I left the place wondering what kind of dirt Bam Margera (I think) had on his parents to get away with the shit he does. If I were his father I would probably shoot him. -- Hook high, flare on time

It's just street rhyming set to a beat - it takes ZERO talent to do it. Consider celebrity status to be like a tube of toothpaste. When squeezed from below, SOMETHING has to come out. If all other things in life are the product of the lowest common denominator, we're really scraping bottom now."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." DivaSkyChick 0 #36 November 6, 2002 Have you guys heard the song by Christina Aguilera dissing him? "Will The Real Slim Shady Please Shut Up?" May I have your attention please? May I have your attention please? Will the Real Slim Shady please shut up? I repeat, will the real slim shady please shut up? We're gonna have a problem here. You all act like you never heard a white person before. His rhymes are a bore, punk kid trying to be hard core ( Yo! What's up??) The mushroom mouth is back worse than before.(???) Making us snore, whining in the microphone ( Baby crying) It's the return of the oh wait, no wait, you're a fool. You didn't pay money for this CD did you? And Dr. Dre did everything you idiot, without Dre's defense you're as good as dead. The world's had enough of Eminem (Jiggy jiggy) Even his girlfriend's cheatin on him. Look at him, walking around living off Dre, acting so cool, but he's really kinda weak though. Little twit blasts me on his new cd Why? Cause I turned him down for a date (hee hee) As for the question of who came first, was it Carson daly or was it Fred Durst? I'm sorry Slim, but this is gonna hurt. They both came closer than you ever will, jerk. Your song is on my nerves, your song is on my nerves. You're kinda lucky cause you got more fame than you deserve. That is the message that I deliver to little kids You can become famous and never know what talent is. Of course they're gonna like you, of course they do. You're like a cartoon version of Ricky Schroder on " Silver Spoons" You aint nothin but a product, packaged to be bought up. You know a year from now you won't be thought of. So you write about dead animals and cannibals And some day you'll stop dating dogs and date higher mammals. [Dog howls] And there's a million women just like me, that think like me, that all can see that Slim Shady is just a boy dealing with puberty So if you agree, scream loudly with me!! You're Slim Shady, yes you're the real shady You sound like Peter Brady, you get quite irritating. So won't the Real Slim Shady please shut up, please shut up, please shut up? You're Slim Shady, yes you're the real shady. You sound like Peter Brady, you get quite itrritating,. So won't the real slim shady please shut up, please shut up, please shut up. adamT 0 #38 November 6, 2002 Quote Have you guys heard the song by Christina Aguilera dissing him? Is that actually on an album, its pretty damn funny actaully. But i have to wonder if she wrote it, I highly doubt it. Did you guys know that artists on major record lables get lower royalties if they write there own music. The reasoning is that if the "artists" are allowed to make there own music they run the risk of making a record that isn't markettable and doesn't sell well. If they just perform the stuff that their writers whip up for them they are almost garenteed a hit because of the marketting research that went into it. Thus is the nature of pop is suppose. It really turns my stomach though, the people with the least amount of tallent doing the least amount of work get paid the most and the people who are actually making music for self expression, the real reason behind music, get the shaft. And my musician friends wonder why i look at them funny when the dream of being famous with big record contracts. adam
DivaSkyChick 0 #39 November 6, 2002 I got it off Limewire. Can't recall where I heard about it first, tho. After all that, I actually have come to like ole' eminem's music! adamT 0 #40 November 6, 2002 *** takes ZERO talent *** I couldn't disagree with you more there. The first time i saw eminem was on a freestyle video, he took second place in the competition but what i saw was very inpressive. To be able to come with a continouse flow of words that rhyme and still make sense is quite the talent if you ask me. Its not something i would be capable of doing any time soon. adam
