I'm not going to quit school, it was more of a should I stay and go to class or go to the DZ, which now at this point it is getting too late to get to class with out missing half of it. Due to driving to school, finding a parking spot then getting to class.

Trust me, I'm not going to quit school, aint no way.

Now if only I could figure out what I want to major in...

I went to school with the desire and goals to be in Computer Science (I've always been a big time geek), but the bad part was that I suck at high end math, so that didn't work. Did Speech Communication for a while and wasn't happy. Ended up majoring in a hobby of mine, History and I love it. I've gotten to take some really good history classes and have had the chance to learn from some really good profs, definatly a fun major. Wouldn't recommend it for everyone, though. The last History class I took had on average of about 1200pages of reading between tests. We had 3 tests over the course of the semester and then the final, which was cummulative. I enjoyed it, but I'm weird.

I'm strongly considering majoring in English. I know, not much career potential there, but then again at this point I want to go to school for personal growth reasons, not necessarily career advancement.

Honestly, I've come to the conclusion that if you go to school only for finacial gain reasons and major in something for only the $$ you'll make later, you are NOT going to be a happy person. In school or in your life later. That's one of the reasons why I majored in History, not much money there, but I love it, I'll make it work after the military. Shit, you don't even need a degree to be a professional skydiver...:P

You will also have a more difficult time finding a higher paying job..

Yes it is more difficult, but timing is everything. I actually went back to school (after 10 years) to start working on a degree. And only because it's required to get into the school of business, first computer class was "Introduction to Computers". Turned in all my projects the second week of class and showed up for the final after discussing my qualifications with the instructor...

In response to both AggieDave and skybytch....

It really doesn't matter what you major in....REGARDLESS of what ANYONE tells you....
IT DOESN'T MATTER.....the only thing that DOES MATTER....is that you excel at it. Taking History and getting straight A's is 1000% better than a Finance major who gets C's and doesn't really 'get it'. Trust me...I fit the second category more than the first. I was fortunate to get 2 business degrees, but I didn't do GREAT in either...so I had a lot of trouble going through interviews...and getting hired. Friends of mine who graduated the same time...who got better grades than I, in 'artsy-fartsy' degrees....got picked up right out of school - and were at a higher level than me by the time I got "in" anywhere.

So, what it boils down to...is school is just to show you (and your employers) that you're trainable - that you CAN LEARN.....it really is up to them to teach you what they want you to know...and if they don't (been there, have the t-shirt!) - than you DON'T want to work there!!! Make damn sure whereever you work has a reasonable training schedule for new hires...and then show them how fantastic you are when you get it faster than 'the other guy'.

And, display all the positivity that comes with skydiving - on the job....I am known as the "energy guy" in my group - pretty much because I don't have time for the corporate b.s......Hell, I got bigger things to worry about when my 'chute doesn't open - than if the boss doesn't get his report on time....he'll get it when he gets it!!

Anyway, stay in school (not that you were considering leaving), go back to school for what you believe is interesting...NOT WHAT WILL MAKE YOU MONEY....and in the end....go to the DZ more!!!!B|

enough outta me.....

I can help!

I am sitting
In the morning
At the diner
On the corner

I am waiting
At the counter
For the man
To pour the coffee

And he fills it
Only halfway
And before
I even argue

(if the words don't help, just do the "doot doot do-doot do-da-do-doot" part in your head)

The good news is this term is almost over, so the classes you're taking will be over soon, too. What, 6 weeks left? That's not very much. And this is coming from somebody whose Thursdays look like this:

8:30-10:00 English Seminar
10:00 Race to catch a shuttle to North Campus to make my
10:30-11:30 Teach
12:30-1:30 Teach
2:30-4 Musicology Seminar
4-7 Music Theory Seminar

Ugh... At least I have no Friday classes after that shit!!
