I'll start by saying this: The thread was never intended to isolate, irritate or annoy anybody. It's kind of ironic that I missed the action because I was having a beer with an American friend of mine in Stellenbosch.

Anybody who bothers to read it will find that none of the rules were transgressed, nor were any of the guidelines violated. It was simply a place where people who were online at that time of the day could find each other every morning.

It is Sangiro's site, he does not charge anybody for the service. Yes, he does not owe anybody an explanation for locking the thread.

If I were in his shoes, I would certainly get irritated by the sheer amount of people sucking up to me .

Anybody who was offended by the thread would certainly not survive any of the real dropzones I have been to .

I love dropzone.com. But I have a life outside it as well. Friday night is waiting for me. I will see all of you in countless other threads, and I hope to meet all of you one day.

DZ.com is provided as a place for skydivers to meet and talk about many things. It isn't meant to be your personal playground. If you don't like the current policy please move on, just don't destroy what everyone else likes.

Don't turn this into one of those cases where because one person is upset they take the fun away from everyone else.

I'm going to try and play it nice here.

Jraf, I do understand where you're coming from because I and many others have been there before you.

What I have learned:
1. This is HH's site and it is a really cool site.
2. He can make any rule he wants, whether we like it or not.
3. He is very direct and to the point. When he is pissed about something, he lets you know in no uncertain terms.
4. People who stick around here do choose to play by the rules because the site really is enjoyable and knowledgeable.
5. The rules really do keep some sort of decency and class on this site.

In regard to the finances, HH is a mystery man. I have pm'd him about the finances. He is very backed up right now and I am sure he will provide a clearer picture.

I am going to give you advice that so many others gave me: Let it go! Don't take it all so seriously. And as HH told me: When you want to post something, write it out, take a brief break, come back and re-read it. If you see it will add to the discussion in a positive way, post it. If it won't or is trivial, you can delete it.

I hope you will stick around. I think you have alot to contribute.
Lastly, the hot fork hurts like a bitch!

Assuming you have, multiply the work you put into it by a thousand, then take a couple hundred bucks out of your checking account for it each month, then tell me you'd let others rule what is done with it. Although I may not agree with everything that takes place here, I respect the fact that this site has a sole owner and it is by his rules that we are allowed to continue here.
The finances of DZ. are of no concern to anyone but Sangiro until such time that he deems it appropriate to involve others. Frankly, its no ones business.
I do not feel it necessary for Sangiro to explain his actions on this site to anyone, nor should he be expected to. (And yeah my eyes are still green!)

Yes and no. The simple explanation. It's Sangrio's sandbox. His rules. Play by them, or don't play. Messages do take space on the server and simply put, space = money. Not knowing the underlying pieces of the message board, it might start to cause issues if the thread gets too big.

DZSports is gone... Cyberskydive is gone... the list goes on and on... but if you actually look back at most websites they are driven by one lone person and their love of something. Its either that or someone sees a way to make a lot of money and turns it into a profit attempter.

Take a look at the posts on this thread you started. Notice how many of them are voicing support for Sangiro and his right to do whatever he wants on this, the website he created and pays for. Note how many of those expressing such support were directly affected by the locking of the two threads. Now compare that to the number of posts voicing support for your "stand." See any patterns?

When the majority of a community is expressing the feeling/opinion that I am wrong, I'll reconsider my stand. You may wish to do the same. You may not. Either way, know that this is a battle you will not win here.

True. We've seen quite a few people come into the forums, post nothing useful, then throw a tantrum when they think their "rights" have been violated. For whatever reason, they usually leave. Unfortunately for this community, nature does abhor a vacuum; we've learned to appreciate the quiet during the times we aren't being subjected to someone's feeling that they are entitled to do whatever they please here.
