Newbie 0 #1 November 11, 2002 man i don't get that film - whats it trying to say? Why did Donnie go back to die in his room? WHat was going on with those weird vortex's art the end? Why, when he and the gang went looking for Roberta Sparrow could they not find her, then those 2 guys were suddenly in the cellar waiting for them (why were they there??) and then old Roberta is suddenly outside doing her mail routine (where did she appear from?) and then Frank turns out to be one of the guys who runs Donnies girlfriend over! I mean, what the hell? Anyway if anyone can offer any insight into what was going on, or can break it down, i'd really appreciate it. It was a good film, but i just left feeling like i didn't get as much out of it as i should have done. "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts
gus 1 #2 November 11, 2002 What a cracking film! I didn't get lots of it (and I've seen it twice) but that's half the fun. How many films can get away with having one of its central characters as a man in a bunny suit? I found a few websites that tried to explain what the hell was going on but none of them did a very good job. It's one to buy and watch again and again until you get it - or you give up. dunesurfer 0 #3 November 11, 2002 What I got was that it was his destiny to die there and then, or the near miss and all the time up til he was finally killed was what took place right after his death, like being in limbo, not realizing you are dead yet
Schroeder 0 #4 November 11, 2002 yeah, awesome film. He went back to the room to die so that the girl could live. Those guys in roberta's place were there to steal something from her, and that's when Donnie happened on them. I love the Mad World song (a cover of a tears for fears song). I think it was an amazing movie, really well done, with a complex plot that was always a step ahead of you. Shot really well too,, I like their use of camera techniques and special effects, not oo much, and they kept them fairly subtle. Anyways, my 2 cents.
