Saturday I managed to have two off landings, one where I had to dodge a spider's web of power lines in high winds and then land in the burble behind some trees, the other where me, Brit & Levin landed about 4 miles off (don't ask...). The winds on the ground were weird enough but the uppers were honking! Then me and 460 went out for a while. I had a 48oz margarita & then we hit one of the local dives. His passenger-side window got broken while we were inside. They didn't seem to steal anything other than the 6-pack we had on the floor and some stuff out of the glove box. His lessons are these. 1-When you know the wind is a little stronger, stay away from fixed, concrete objects unless you have an expendable piece of yourself to leave on them. 2-Canopies lose altitude quickly when the concrete object blocks the wind. 3-When doing turns, the wind is pressing on the top of the canopy and makes it dive a little faster. 4-You may get away with a lot of hook turns, you only have to lose on one. Last night I went to a carnival with a bunch of drunk skydivers, including one other on crutches...the manifest girl (who chugged the better part of a bottle of tequila) kept telling random guys that I'm a porn star. I got a lot of happy grins. I flashed people on the pirate ship ride and a few others on the DZ earlier in the day. I didn't get arrested though, so no trouble.
