I said: "Of course, a statement like that is worth little more than the paper it's printed on." That means their statement isn't very trustworthy. You seem to be willing to give the Iraqi government (amongst others) the benefit of the doubt over the American Government. _________________________________________ Chris

My thoughts on "The Benefit of the Doubt" The "benefit of the doubt" is something you offer someone when there is doubt, not when there isn't. i.e. "The Iraquies wont let UN inspectors in!" hmmm, I'm not sure about that.. (there's the doubt) after all, the letter says they are ready to receive UN inspectors On the other hand, there is no doubt in my mind that the U.S. government would rather blow the whole place up rather than send inpectors at all! Thus, in the interest of human lives, the benefit of my doubts HAVE to go to the other side. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

In that case, I think it would make more sense to answer it than to respond to my imagined state of mind. >You seem to be willing to give the Iraqi government (amongst > others) the benefit of the doubt over the American Government. I don't trust any governments completely, whether US or foreign. In terms of keeping our word, I think we're a lot more trustworthy than Iraq, which is why I said that their statement is worth little more than the paper it's printed on.
