homer 0 #1 November 13, 2002 Phobias we all have them so what is yours. I have a fear of spiders from when I was younger and had one crawl up my neck when I was in bed. I have learned the only way to overcome your fears is to face them. That is why I skydive so that I will not have a fear of heights CSA #699 Muff #3804
AggieDave 6 #2 November 13, 2002 I have a fear of heights, but I can usually deal with it, skydiving doesn't bother me on that level. Now, standing on a platform a 30ft in the air, *that* bothers me but it doesn't leave me unable to do anything. Spiders are my other phobia, I can't really explain why, I know they're useful for the envrionment, etc, but man I've still got a healthy phobia going on.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Galen 0 #3 November 13, 2002 I would have to say my biggest fear (strong aversion) is bees (or wasps or hornets or yellow jackets). Used to get stung constantly as a kid. That whole "if you don't bother them they won't bother you" saying is a bunch of BS. Respect the Dolphin
kmcguffee 0 #4 November 13, 2002 Heights and scorpions. I have to be holding onto something when I am up high. For some reason a parachute makes me comfortable. I guess I trust it. I can't stand scorpions. The little buggers are nasty. The tail freaks me out and all of those little hairs......and the eyes.......and pincers.......aaaack! They should all die! homer 0 #5 November 13, 2002 I've learned to deal with them over time, but prefer to shoot them from across the house with me blow gun rather than get a napkin to catch them. Still a good spider is a dead one on the bottom of a shoe. CSA #699 Muff #3804

hooked 0 #8 November 13, 2002 My biggest phobia are Mice, rats or anything that looks like oneFire is also one of mine. Also don't like slugs, icky icky icky. When I find them in the yard (and don't have any salt with me), I pierce them with something or cut them with my hand shovel. Scorpions, killed two of them while in AZ, didn't really bother me. Stacy 0 #9 November 13, 2002 my fears are strange. snakes (not so strange), big hairy spiders (the little ones are OK), and any staircase without slats between the steps, esp those metal kinds. i dunno why, but i can't climb them. I get up about 5 of them and then just about pass out and get light headed. i know, it makes no sense.
Brisco 0 #10 November 13, 2002 I'm somewhat claustraphobic - not even real crazy about getting in the Cessna!! It sure feels good getting out! Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
skygal3 0 #11 November 13, 2002 here is an interesting link from my favorites folder: http://www.phobialist.com/index.html it is hard to believe that some of these are real...however, it makes for an interesting read if bored.
mikkimouse 0 #12 November 13, 2002 I don't really mind most bugs and snakes and whatnot -- normal phobia stuff -- but I do have a big problem with needles -- I can deal with getting a shot, but I tried to give blood once -- nope. not a chance. I freak out when they put the cuff thing on my arm to get a vein *shudders*
novacaine 0 #13 November 13, 2002 I have a huge phobia of heights. Which was a huge reason for skydiving, but it doesn't scare me. Latters on the other hand scare the piss out of me. I really hate spiders. I have no idea where this came from. When I was younger I had a few pet spiders. My third biggest phobia is drowning. I took up scuba diving a number of years ago to try and get over this phobia, but sadly it didn't work. I still love scuba dive, but I can't snorkel. I start to hyperventilate. Nearly drowned as a result of this once.

FallinWoman 1 #15 November 13, 2002 I didn't think I had a phobia...but then I read the other replies... I have a huge fear of drowning. I didn't used to. I was a springboard and platform diver. No fear of water whatsoever....until I hit my head on the board and was knocked out. If not for my coach I would have drowned. That was the end of my diving career. I can snorkel, but even the thought of SCUBA diving freaks me out. ANne ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!
lummy 4 #16 November 13, 2002 Not really a phobia (or is it?) I get lightheaded just talking about blood , especially being drawn. Horror movies don't bother me, but I can't watch when they draw blood.. I USED to have a fear of heights, but skydiving conquered that. I used to not be able to look over a cliff, or building without getting freaked out, but weirdly enuf, now when I do, I'll look for places I can land insteadI promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. carbonezone 0 #18 November 13, 2002 Whatz up!!! HAD a phobia of fish with big teeth (jaws generation). However, after a wonderful week of skydiving and cooking at the keys boogie....managed to FINALLY go snorkeling TODAY!!! Wow, it was awesome. I only really totally freaked out once when we encountered a barracuda that was freaking bigger than me. I managed to almost drown poor Scotty while climbing over top of him in the water to get away from that big ugly fish. The damn thing (the fish that is) didnt even blink throughout all that splashing and screaming. Needless to say Scotty calmed me down and we just floated around him...no worries and I truly think I have overcome my fears now. The REEF WAS AWESOME I am now ready to get certified for scuba diving!!!! Now all i need to do is overcome my other fear of BUGS!!! NEVER HAPPEN (I hate them). Gypsy 0 #19 November 13, 2002 Used to have one of spiders, but now I take close up pics of them (lense being 6inches or less from he spider). I throughly dislike roaches, but not afraid of them. Had one tree roach fall on my head recently, that was hilarious! Let's just say that everyone inside the house heard me!
