AggieDave 6 #2 November 15, 2002 I've just started running again (short distances), my knees are starting to let me. I'm actually really excited about that, now I'll be able to get this huge gut I put on since I blew up my knee, off my body!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." pop 0 #3 November 15, 2002 One of the most important things in running, and your knees will thank you for it, is shoes. Get a new pair of running shoes about every three months, and not the cheap ones either.7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer
freeflir29 0 #4 November 15, 2002 Yep...shoes are VERY important. Especially for us Big Boys Dave. It makes all the difference in the world.
AggieDave 6 #5 November 15, 2002 I've got a good pair of shoes and I used to run around 15miles a week (not much for "runners" but good for me). This was while I was in the Aggie Corps. I just haven't been able to do that since I did ACL damage and tore my MCL back in the summer. So, this weekend you'll get to see "big gut" version of AggieDave... --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." christoofar 0 #7 November 15, 2002 I have a friend in Austin (the running capital of TX) that is fixing to do a 13-mile UPHILL minimarathon next Sunday. I can't bear to go watch it. That shit just hurts thinking about it. My quads are thick, but they'll sieze up fast trying to run uphill for a 13 mile run!!! ____________________________________________________________ I'm RICK JAMES! Fo shizzle. AggieDave 6 #8 November 15, 2002 Dragging a foot on landing. Caught a rut, I kept going, my foot didn't, my knee was the weak link between the two.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

SpeedRacer 1 #11 November 15, 2002 so what's a good running shoe to get? Been getting mine at Payless, but they might not be of the highest quality Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
AggieDave 6 #12 November 15, 2002 I always seem to buy New Balance, since I have sort of odd feet and they fit me the best. That and Nikes are too damned expensive, when I can get a shoe that is just as good for 1/3 of the price of a Nike...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." pop 0 #13 November 15, 2002 My three favorites are New balance, Adidas, Asics. With running shoes price has a lot to do with the quality. Good running shoes can run you $150 a pair eassily. I ususally stick with the $60-$70 range.7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer

The nice thing about New Balance is they come in widths. Only problem I have with them is they tended to wear out too quickly. Good luck.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics. AggieDave 6 #15 November 15, 2002 QuoteI like Brooks I had a pair of Brooks for a while, nice shoes, although they wore out on me pretty quick too... *shrug*--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
freeflir29 0 #16 November 15, 2002 Don't usually care what the brand is. I just get what feels good on the feet. NB does tend to wear out quickly. I have also had good luck with Asics and Addidas. I try to stick with a $50-70 price range. I don't think you need to pay anymore than that.

freeflir29 0 #21 November 15, 2002 Quote I got my fastest mile at 5Min 45Sec That's pretty damn fast. I don't think I ever turned anything too far under 7 minutes but I never JUST ran one mile either. 2 at the very least and usually 4-6 was a normal moring run. I hate running.... christoofar 0 #22 November 15, 2002 Yeah... but running: - is easy to do - doesn't require a spotter - lets you quickly drop weight - gets you noticed if you're hot looking - keeps you prepared for a high-speed landing gone wrong. ____________________________________________________________ I'm RICK JAMES!
