indyz 1 #3 November 15, 2002 Bass, poorly. Sold it over the summer because I needed an extra $100 to put me over the top for my rig. That kid got a great deal because I didn't have time to wait for it to sell on consignment.

And, where are the woodwinds? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

christoofar 0 #8 November 15, 2002 Yes, piano is a percussion instrument... so is the xylophone, clavichord, harpsichord, etc. It's because you stike the keys to make a sound. ____________________________________________________________ I'm RICK JAMES! Skitzo 0 #9 November 15, 2002 I used to play the flute, I still have it, however its been collecting dust in my closet for quite some time. I've been thinking about digging it out for a jump, getting a picture of me sitting with it in the air to send to my Mom and Dad to let them know I still play it. Thank you for playing, please come back and play again sometime. A harpsichord creates music by plucking the strings, not by striking themwith a hammer like a piano. Back to music class fer ye, bucko! Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them? FliegendeWolf 0 #17 November 16, 2002 Actually, given the difference between how they all function, instruments with keyboards tend to be referred to in music scholarship as (get ready for this...) "keyboard instruments." This is because classifying them by their method of sound production (for example, that pianos are percussion instruments, clavichords and harpsichords are string instruments, organs are wind instruments, etc.) negates their most obvious similarity: that they are played by fingers (or, I suppose, feet too) on a keyboard. Thus, a pianist could play on an organ or a harpsichord, whereas one would not immediately expect a wind player to be able to play a string instrument.A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
