AggieDave 6 #1 November 18, 2002 Remember Texas A&M sometime today, for this is the 3rd anniversary of the darkest day in Aggieland. On this night (early morning of the 18th) 3 years ago the Texas A&M Bonfire collapsed, killing 12 and injurying dozens. Scott West (Nathan Scott West in all the newspapers/books/records) was a good friend of mine, one of my buddies in my outfit in the Corps of Cadets, who died that night under those stacks of logs. He love Bonfire as I loved Bonfire, our weekends would find us out at Cut, downing trees by hand with axes for our beloved Bonfire. Nights between October and Thanksgiving would find us on Stack, wiring the logs into Bonfire. After 90 years of Bonfires being built and burnt, the flame no longer burns and only tears fill its place.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
