AggieDave 6 #1 November 19, 2002 QuoteONTARIO, CALIF. -- Police say the relatives of a nine-year-old girl hit by an alleged drunk driver took justice into their own hands. The girl was gathering leaves in the front yard of her family's Ontario home when a van jumped the curb and plowed into her. Witnesses say her relatives, who were getting ready to go to church, attacked the driver and smashed his head through the window of a parked car. They then dragged the man into their home, prompting a neighbor to call authorities. The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment. The girl was also rushed to the hospital, where doctors performed surgery to reattach her nearly severed foot. Police have booked the man on suspicion of felony drunken driving. And I can't blame them. Infact, I found it nice that the article didn't say that the family was charged with assault or anything. Hell, I'm getting pissed off at the drunk driver just thinking about it!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." I think the people were very kind in sparing him his life. I can't say that I would do the "Moral" thing if some did something to a child of mine. In fact if I saw anyone one hurt another child either. I did not follow my Father's side of the family(tradition) to being a Trooper. I was shot by a highway sniper as an 11yr old(on my Birthday..yea!) I started believing that I liked TRUE justice rather than reality after they caught him and they courts gave him misdemeanor charges. and Yes he blew a hole right through me (I was his 3rd hit/ he was 17)._______________________________ If I could be a Super Hero, I chose to be: "GRANT-A-CLAUS". and work 365 days a Year. http://www.hangout.no/speednews/
indyz 1 #5 November 19, 2002 Something simiiar happened in Chicago over the summer. Except that time, the mob got out of control and by the time it was over four people were dead instead of two. Maybe they deserved a good ass kicking, but street justice is rarely the right answer.

Gawain 0 #7 November 19, 2002 QuoteAnd I can't blame them. Deep down, I can't blame them either. I am still deeply disturbed by the family's reaction however. As much as we try to break it, as much as we burden it, and as much as I would like to criticize our judicial system, vigilante justice serves noone. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
