Snowbird 0 #1 November 19, 2002 So, if they were to make a movie about a real life skydiver or skydiving team, who should it be about, and why? *Think feature film, not biography or documentary. *Someone with a truly remarkable story that would hold an audience of skydivers AND whuffos. *Not only the very best athletes have good stories. Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein
sunshine 2 #2 November 19, 2002 A movie about Michele's experiences would be good. It would have to include the thong experiment in it though.... ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!

pilotdave 0 #5 November 19, 2002 Quote It would have to include the thong experiment in it though.... I have NO idea what that's about (I musta been absent that day), but here's a thong to use. Errrr, scuse me, "ultra low drag sitfly shorts." Note: If you're a University of Maryland student or friend of a University of Maryland student, you didn't see that... yet. Just click back a couple times and pretend it never happened. Thanks. Dave
Snowbird 0 #6 November 19, 2002 I'm actually really interested in hearing some suggestions. I'm too new to the sport to know many life-stories. Anyone? happythoughts 0 #7 November 19, 2002 QuoteI'm actually really interested in hearing some suggestions. I'm too new to the sport to know many life-stories. Anyone? Guidelines? They should be alive. Dead skydiver movies suck. They should be widely respected for doing positive things. They should have some achievements. People who come to mind. Guy Manos or Jerry Bird. Of course, being new to the sport, you don't know who they are, but that's ok.
billvon 3,120 #8 November 19, 2002 Drama? Roger Nelson. Got lots of ups, lots of downs, some death and destruction, some controversy, some good stuff (world records and the like.) Action? Kate Cooper. Movie deals, near-misses, scary looking injuries, good looking leading lady, some drama, some very impressive successes. Summer camp movie? Do something with Rook Nelson, about being a misunderstood kid who 'just wants to have fun' but who causes a lot of controversy. Comedy? Any drop zone. Just pick one person and follow them around. Someone like Da3ve Ruckert comes to mind for this one. Lawyer movie? the "Kat Folger vs Mick and Dave" story.
PhreeZone 20 #9 November 19, 2002 For a documentry check out the Airspeed film... not too shabby from what i know of it. BC would be a good one to have in a film with the Perris plane crash and losing a teammate he brought out to train, to Airspeed, to him being a DZO for a bit and all the events from there. I still think Survior needs to look at a DZ as their next setting.. and not a nice comfy DZ... something thats a throw back to Fandango. Throw skydivers off each week and show the drama unfolding with the staff, whos sleeping with who, who injures them self first, the egos being busted through the trials and tribulations of being at a DZ for 2 months every day. Remember... I get credit for this idea if its made into a movie or television series...Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Guest #10 November 19, 2002 Somebody, somewhere, posted a remark about how neat it would be to make a skydiving-themed movie that uses characters and situations similar to "Caddyshack". Or maybe a total spoof like the Leslie Nielsen comedies, or "Hot Shots". A well-written sendup of all the whuffo skydiving misconceptions and stereotypes would be charming, but only if it was done in a way that lets the viewer know that it's a gag."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." The critics say it's stupid. Well...it's supposed to be stupid.......stupid....

Lolie 0 #15 November 19, 2002 QuoteRoger has it all. A winner... I've been told that two of the mainstream skydiving movies were loosely based on his life... -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.
