Ya heard of Manic Monday? Try Terrible Tuesday

Recommended Posts

AUGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH. Ranting and raving to follow (click out now if you don't want to hear me pitch a fit).....

6:30 am. Shut my eyes for a moment, and now it's really 7:20. Damn snooze alarm doesn't work anymore. 'Kay. Whatever.

9:10 am. Get to the office about 10 minutes late - jeans and a short sleeve sweater amidst a bunch of business suits. I forgot - Regional/Corporate is visiting for this office meeting. I marginally survive the deadly glare of my broker, and sneak over to the coffee pots...but there isn't any. Someone took the last cup, and now I have to wait for the slowest drip machine in the universe to brew some more. O.K., I'll survive this too....except Diana, who's with regional, calls my name. Seems I got some sort of "qualification" award. Coffeeless and clad most humbly, I go and get the certificate thing, and thank her...and pop goes the flashbulb. Damnit. Oh well. Life will continue. Twiddle my thumbs for the rest of the meeting, knowing the OA is writing a memo to remind me that when corporate comes, wear nice clothes....

10:30 and it's time to go get my 'flu shot. They're running late, and then decide to take it out on me. Jam in the needle, suck in my breath, feel the burn of that going in, and I guess she was still being mean because she missed getting the bandaid on the right spot, so I bleed onto my sleeve. I'm wayyyy late now....I have to be in the next town in 15 minutes at my eye Dr's. Call them and tell them I'm late and on my way...get the car from valet, and vrooooom off I go....sunroof down, windows down, 85 degrees...radio blaring CHRISTMAS carols...WFT is that about? It's not even thanksgiving yet!!!!!!!!!! I pop in some old Creedence and floor it....

11:08 late, so the eye Dr. has taken someone else. I sit there, twiddling my thumb...go in, get my eye numbed, and yank, out comes part of the tube. But only part. There's still plastic in my eye, and now it's poking me. The anesthetic isn't working. Ow, shit this hurts. O.K., I'll tilt my head back...as he reaches up my nostril with tweezers and pulls the rest of the tube out that way. Now, my arm hurts from the shot, and my nose and eye are bleeding. Ice compresses...o.k., fine, yes, what do you mean we need to do scar abatement surgery? Won't that make more scar tissue? Shit. I can't afford this! We'll talk. Damn. Out the door, back in my car, vroom....

12:48 pm. Grab the file and fax a few things. Read the memo about jeans and crumple it and put it in the recycling bin. Hey, at least I'm recycling. Answer a call from my car loan place - I'm 2 payments behind and they want my money...I haven't any, so they tell me bring it up to date or we'll repossess...shit, I need my car....open my mail, and my phone bill is there. They want $$ too. Geesus.....

1:45 race home and get my 16 y/o cat, Bitch Kitty, into a carrier. Now, my arm, eye and nose hurt, and I have scratches all over. At least she didn't bite me. Close the carrier, and haul a yowling cat out to the car. Fly up the street, into the vet's. The vet reaches into the carrier, and out she comes. The chase is on. It's a new vet, he didn't listen when I told him she's aptly named, and don't take her out to weigh her in the hall...she'll escape...crash and there she goes....and now the dogs in the waiting area are barking. Kitty faces them down, and smacks one across the nose, bringing blood to the poodle's nose...woosh there she goes, someone opened the fucking door to the outside, and she makes her escape. We race behind her, turmoil in our wake, and manage to corner her trying to climb a tree (she's 16 - I mean, she can't even climb onto the bed!). I pluck her off the tree, and she bites my arm...and then snuggles close to me because she knows me...and then decides to pee on me. Take her back inside...order is not exactly restored. The front desk folk are still calming down the dogs and picking up the glass vase which somehow got knocked over in the melee. Kitty and I make it into an exam room, and the vet comes in...she has a horribly infected abcess in her jaw which has spread to her sinus and back into her ears. She also has worms. $207 for the visit today, and an additional $159 because she needs some surgery on Friday - which was the only day I could jump before Thanksgiving (now she needs this surgery - she'd die without it - and I am so far beyond broke I can't afford to jump anyway. Shit....Bye bye, Eloy...) Vet's comment? "She's damned fast for 16 years old...". No shit, Sherlock. Wrestle Kitty back into the carrier, back into the car, walk into the house, and open the carrier. Start to lift her out, and she swipes me again. She can come out on her own (fyi, she hasn't done so yet.).

I am home now. I have changed my clothes and attended my wounds. But I can't even have a drink yet - I have to do dinner with my father. We're planning his birthday party in three weeks, and he thinks he can call and order take out chinese the day ofthe party...for 40 people. Um, nope. But Michele, they deliver. It'll be o.k....um, nope, Pop, we need to go and arrange this ahead of time...so I am eating Chinese tonight, and then the other choice on thursday...Italian.

I need a beer. Would one of you please please please have one for me? I'll join you when I get home later, but you start now, o.k.?
Please?

This is gonna be a really really long week...

Michele

Wow, only thing interesting here today is leaves in the pool and while dealing with that, FX (kitty) pushed Smurfy Smurf (kitty litter mate) in the deep end of the pool.

Yikes! Smurfy Smurf put the air brakes on and twisted about and only landed her tail and ass in the deep end, somehow she clawed out only 1/2 way wet. She shook it off and darted up a tree.

Heh, well thanks for playing....

I skipped work today...oops...

If I have any hopes of making it to Eloy come xmas time, I'm going to have to pay my dues in the salt mines now. I can see it now, the whuffo boss is going to set our next deadline for Dec 24th (or worse Dec 31st). :S

I hope you feel better now. I just had 2 beers for you.

Thanks, Patrick...I do appreciate it. I needed one...or two...and just now, I've popped a Mike's Hard Tea...

Dave, thanks for the vibes. I am really worried about her. She's one sick little kitty right now. I hope she'll pull through. I'll know more on Friday after the surgery.

Good luck with your kitty. Pets can be expensive l'il bastards, can't they? I'm looking at two bad little parrots right now, combined retail value of $600, and in their short lifetimes I've spent at least $1,200 their cute little birdie hospital bills (and a lot of that is injuries one of them inflicted on the other. Did you know you can x-ray birds?). And, of course, it was more than worth it.

is send a smile and some good vibes your way

Thanks, my friend...I appreciate that greatly. Geesh, between you, Wingi, and the beer Patrick drank for me tonight, I'm feeling a little better already.

Tomorrow is scheduled off, so I will take something to help me sleep and then wake up when I'm done sleeping - no alarms, forgotten VIPs, doctors, files...please God...

Jess...yes, the critters in our lives do consume time and $$, but all worth it in the end. BK is really ill. I have lost two other cats in the last 2.5 years, both older. BK is a wonderful cat...she thinks she's a dog - she even barks at squirrels. She has slept next to my head for the last 16 years, always right there, purring away, a sleek, black, warm cuddler. She has never been ill at all, and thinks the vets are the devil's spawn. She's sleeping on the sofa right now...and I keep waking her up to see if she's dead. Like I said, this is a very very bad infection...

I am supposed to give her oral antibiotics. I am not looking forward to this. More scratches and loss of blood....

Ah, geez, I'm depressing myself again. Sorry kids...just needed a place to come and let it out.

You might have seen this before, but your post made me think of it. Good luck!

How to give your cat a pill.

1) Pick cat up and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2) Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.

3) Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.

4) Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right fore-finger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.

5) Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse from garden.

6) Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls
emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

7) Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.

8) Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill
in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw.

9) Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans, drink 1 beer to take taste away. Apply
Band-Aid to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

10) Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed. Get another pill. Open another beer. Place cat in cupboard and
close door onto neck to leave head showing.
Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.

11) Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Drink beer. Fetch bottle of
scotch. Pour shot, drink. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus jab. Apply whiskey compress to cheek to disinfect. Toss back another shot. Throw Tee-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

12) Ring fire brigade to retrieve the f------ cat from tree across the road. Apologize to neighbor who
crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat.
Take last pill from foil-wrap.

13) Tie the little bastard's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining
table, find heavy duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of fillet
steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour 2 pints of water down throat to wash pill down.

14) Consume remainder of Scotch. Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room, sit quietly while
doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes
pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.

15) Arrange for SPCA to collect mutant cat from hell and ring local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.

How To Give A Dog A Pill:

1) Wrap it in bacon!!

I have seen that before, Tina. As a matter of fact, it's hanging framed in my vet's office....which is why it's liquid. He saw the condition of my arms from the carrier battle, and took pity on me. Thank God.

LOL, though, thanks...it made me smile...been there, done that. Got the scar to prove it!:S

Michele- Warmest thoughtds going your way on BK. Sounds like she is a tuff one though. If she had the energy to tear up the place upon arrival she will likely be ok. Just hang in and know more when the time comes to find out.

I had a parrot (Blue front Amazon) and we were inseperable. He went thru 2 divorces with me and a break in - Thank goodness they didnt take Birdie. Amps, guitars, guns, racing bikes, my freakin Nikon. But they left me Birdie. Thank goodness.

But anyway, the aweful aparment people against my written wishes to never use pesticides in my apartment, did it anyway. Well Birdie went everywhere I did, In the shower, in the kitchen, in the closet, on the couch. He got pneumonia, was in an incubator with oxygen and all that for 11 days and I went everyday to feed him. He wouldnt eat but for me.

He is burried on a hillside. And I cant return to the part of town wherby the aviary vet was. I avoid that intersection. The bill was incredible, yet we were trying to save him, I told them to knock out all the stops, at all cost he must be saved. He even went to work with me when he was alive.

Now a titanium hip for a great dane is a pretty penny. That is why when Skeet goes all out I make sure he isnt hurt if he falls. Freaks me all out. However, he is such a beautiful animal to watch run. Much like a horse.

I certainly hope your kitty comes out of the surgery ok. Mostly animals are the only people I trust.

Michele...all I can say is...Wow!!! :o

I thought I was geared up for a bad week. I sincerely hope it doesn't spin completely insane for you, but you have refreshed my perspective, instilled a little gratitude for me and my paltry problems and also reminded me why cats aren't my favorite animal. :S

Take care...and keep smiling...:)

So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life

Once I had to give my cat antibiotics after he was treated for a very deep cut on his hind leg. I discovered something: Pennicillin is particularly nasty. No matter what I tried to hide it in, tuna , cream cheese, etc, somehow the pennicillin taste came through & he wouldn't touch it. When I tried to "pill" him, he coughed it out & foamed at the mouth:o!!

What worked: Amoxicillin. For some reason, amoxicillin is much less noxious & I could hide it in food.

I know this story but it makes me want to

HULK SMASH !!

every time I hear it. If apartment bastards ever come in here and spray for bugs even though I've told them a million times not to I'll go postal.

Blue-front Amazons are magnificent birds. Rawk! I'm sure he's...where is that place pets go when they die? Over the rainbow bridge or something? :)

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
