mouth 0 #53 November 22, 2002 A neighbor and I adopt a family every year during the holidays. We have provided her and her family with food for Thanksgiving, had the tires on her car replaced, had the oil changed, and now we are working on providing Christmas gifts for them. She is so appreciative and just cries everytime we do something. I makes me feel good to help someone out who really appreciates what we do. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit. My point was that it is a proven fact that more people suffer from depression, loneliness, etc. during the holidays. That is why I suggest, taking the time to cheer someone up. Of course, if we do put this into practice we run the risk of being labeled a "nice guy". _________________________________________ Chris
hooked 0 #55 November 22, 2002 I love decorating for Christmas! It is my favorite time of year, well, other than Summertime. I don't put up any decorations until after Thanksgiving though. I put alot of outdoor decorations up, lots of lights and lighted decorations. The house all decorated for Christmas always looks so warm and cozy. But after Christmas, I want them all down! Deuce 1 #56 November 22, 2002 Skymama is correct: Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving is an Holiday Infraction. The Day After Thanksgiving I will be putting the lights on the house and we'll be putting a ready-cut tree into the front room. I'll put the lights on the tree and then the "ART" of putting ornaments on will be left to the Estrogen Gang. Ah, the tree. A dark house lit with only Christmas tree lights late at night, an empty bottle of wine, the crunch of fallen needles between the carpet and my back.... Thanksgiving is next Thursday right?! What I wouldn't give for diplomatic immunity and an shotgun at the Macy's Day Parade. "Here comes Bullwinkle" "BLAM!"

mouth 0 #58 November 22, 2002 All my decorations will be down before I leave for Eloy. That leaves me an hour and a half. The florist will take down the outside stuff while I am gone so when I return life will back to normal (or at least as close to normal as my household can manage). -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit. AggieDave 6 #61 November 22, 2002 Jesus, its not even Thanksgiving yet folks! That was my though when I was trying to study at Starbucks the other night, and they were playing christmas carols. Then again, I heard christmas carols in a store back about mid-october...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." (hence the last line Sarcasm rules) anyway I know while most ppl are opening gifts many are openin thier wrists. it sucks but I dont think 1 few days of FORCED happiness is gonna stop that. If there were more of Us "nice guys" around maybe ppl would be happier. but then again if we were all Nice then I would wanna be an asshole! happythoughts 0 #63 November 23, 2002 Quote My oldest child was born Dec 21 therefore I make sure to have a seperate birthday party with seperate stuff wrapped in birthday paper. Makes her feel like the miracle she is. My father and his mother were both born on Dec. 25. It can be difficult to keep someone humble at the worlds largest birthday party. For moi, mine is Dec. 29th. The weirdest thing is when I was married and the ex was a Jehovahs Witness. They wouldn't do "Halloween", but the weekend before HW, they would have a dress-up party and call it the Fall Festival. She wouldn't do Christmas, but I'd better give her a gift if I was giving all my/her relatives one.
