nubain1 0 #1 November 25, 2002 Well, as some of you have read in the past I was having some problems with letting my nerves get the best of me and was'nt able to jump because of it.Weeeell, I went to the DZ saturday on what turned out to be a beautiful daydespite wht the weather man said.I got there late because right when I was walking out the door the phone rang and my dumb ass answered it.It turned out to be my ex wife and after listeing to hear gripe for about a hr(I know I should have Hung Up)I got to leave.Get to the DZ(SkyDive The Rockies!)and watch people getting ready for 4 ways and 5 ways and I think to myself how lucky they are that they don't listen to that little voice inside their heads and jump anyway. So anyways I'm hanging out for a coupla hrs and one of the instructors(Duey, really cool guy) asks if I'm ready to go,So I say that we might as well.So I gear up and am waiting for the next load.SO,while waiting another instructor(Derrick, another really cool one, evreybody there is way cool)Says that we are on the next load and we go over the dive flow. After that he looks at me and says"There is no riding the plane back down" with a smile on his face while saying this.Which my reply was if you have to drag me out then do it.So,we head out to the caravan and load up.we get on last since we are the first to go.On the way to alti I'm scared shitless but Derrick really helped me to relax.Get to alti and the door goes up and so does my anxiety.I started breathing so fast I felt like I was going to black out.Got to the edge of the door and looked over at Derrick gave the count and out the door I went.I was unstalbe fro the exit.My mind was screaming ARCH!ARCH!ARCH! but my body was'nt listening.I finally got stable aqnd did a backloop.then went unstable again.got back into my arch and did a right 360 and overshot a little then went for a left 360 got close to 180 then noticed that I was right at 6k so stopped all manuvers waved off at 5k and pulled at 4.5k.Beautiful ride down and had a stand up landing. Was so excited that I walked back to the hanger instead of riding the trk back.I went back to the DZ today but did'nt get to jump because of weather.I can't thank the guys at the DZ enough for helping me get through the nerve problems. Those guys are the coolest.I can't wait till the weather clears and I can get back in the air. ECVZZ 0 #2 November 25, 2002 Keep at it Clint, most people that I know had nerves to some degree when they were students (some still do!). After awhile everything starts to feel natural, and you'll get a kick out of the look on the newbies (and tandems) faces when you lean waaaay out the door to check your spot! Have fun and be safe, Greg
