skybytch 273 #2 November 25, 2002 Blowing widespread dust is right. Went out to check the mail and just about had to track to the mailbox. But go jump anyway! I'm sure you can pull off a hellacious downwind swoop in this...
Michele 1 #3 November 25, 2002 From Emergency E-Mail network: (Sorry about the caps - I'm not retyping it all...me's lazy!) Quote .STRONG SANTA ANA WINDS ACROSS S. CALIFORNIA THROUGH TUESDAY... STRONG HIGH PRESSURE IS BUILDING INTO THE GREAT BASIN TODAY...SETTING THE STAGE FOR A STRONG SANTA ANA EVENT FOR VENTURA & LOS ANGELES COUNTIES THROUGH TUESDAY. IN THE MTNS OF VENTURA & LOS ANGELES COUNTIES...NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS 35 TO 50 MPH WITH GUSTS OVER 70 MPH WILL CONTINUE THROUGH TUESDAY. ACROSS VALLEY & COASTAL AREAS OF VENTURA & LOS ANGELES COUNTIES NORTHEAST WINDS 25 TO 35 MPH WITH LOCAL GUSTS TO 50 MPH. WIND ADVISORIES HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR THESE AREAS TODAY...AND THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR WARNING LEVEL WINDS TO DEVELOP BY TUES MORNING. RESIDENTS IN THE ADVISORY & WARNING AREAS ARE ADVISED TO TAKE PRECAUTIONS NOW BEFORE THE WINDS REACH THEIR PEAK. CLOSE ALL WINDOWS & SECURE ALL OUTDOOR OBJECTS SUCH AS LAWN FURNITURE. MOTORISTS PLANNING TO TRAVEL THROUGH THE WATCH AREA SHOULD BE ALERT FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF FLYING DEBRIS...AS WELL AS DOWNED TREES & POWER LINES. THE STRONG GUSTY WINDS WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR OPERATORS OF HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES OR VEHICLES TOWING TRAILERS. Burbank is very windy right now, lots of leaves blowing around, and I've had to dodge trashcans already...and it's not even close to "peaking" yet, so they say. Hey - I just figured it out! HH got into town yesterday, and is making his presence known! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Scoby 0 #8 November 25, 2002 Yeah, weird and wacky winds in Los Angeles right now. Some idiot towing a wood chipper (hiding his brake lights) stopped in the middle of an intersection during a strong gust and I found out how quickly my car can stop (glad I got ABS!).
