Kennedy 0 #1 November 27, 2002 Well, not if you're from New Jersey like me. It looks like they are going to put through the "Smart Gun" and "Ballistic Fingerprinting" legislation. [A. 700 and A. 438] The smart gun thing is basically a ban on all handguns currently sold if anyone puts a smart gun on the market, no matter the reliability or functionality. Oh, but cops are exempt. The ballistic fingerprinting has been discussed here ad nauseum, but basically the only thing it accomplishes is a gun registration. I'm looking into actual texts and what's going on with them right now. Both bills have passed the assembly, which is usually where NJ gun control hits a road block. They are off to the state senate, which passes most any gun control measure conceivable, and then to Gov McGreevey's desk. McGreevey has promised to sign one or both, though he IS a politician and has promised plenty.witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Kennedy 0 #5 November 27, 2002 A smart gun is one that can only be fired by the owner. [or other approved user.] I can't get the text. [edit] I, too, believe gun control is hitting what you aim at. freeflir29 0 #6 November 27, 2002 QuoteWhat's a smart gun? S&W has been developing these for a couple years now. It's a pretty moronic idea that just puts one more "key" on the gun. The ones I have seen require the user to wear a wrist band. The gun only fires if it's within a certain distance of the wrist band.
Jib 0 #7 November 27, 2002 S&W already sold out to Clinton. Hasn't it pissed off gun owners enough already?
