blueshrew 0 #1 November 29, 2002 What IS seat and lap? To get the reserve in, you use the rig as a seat? If it belongs to a cutie, you ask her to sit on your lap for a quick fix on the rig? Verrry Confused
Sonic 0 #2 November 29, 2002 It's where the canopy is located - seat being common in pilot bail out rigs, lap being front mounted reserves I assume.----------------------------------- It's like something out of that twilighty show about that zone
PhreeZone 20 #3 November 29, 2002 Lap never really existed. The 3 that are in active use are back, seat and chest.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Sonic 0 #4 November 29, 2002 How is / was lap similar to chest?----------------------------------- It's like something out of that twilighty show about that zone
PhreeZone 20 #5 November 29, 2002 Lap was designed to be attached at or below your waist and rest on your lap as you sit down. When walking it would flap around and limited movement. Chest is mounted about where modern chest rings are and are actually pretty easy to pack up. The only real seat rigs are either the old warbird style that you actually sit on top of the parachute or one thats mounted into the ejection seat like a Martin Baker style. Most every day pilot bail out rigs are back. Seat ratings are unusual. Most people go Back rating then if you want the master they go chest since its still possible to find those laying around to work on.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
