To "B" or not to "B"? Or, should I just wait and "C"?

Recommended Posts

Unless you're keen on paying the USPA $20.00 for a license I would just skip it. Remember though, to get your C you'll need meet all of the requirements of the B.

I got my B, and now I regret it. I got my C a few months later, and it felt like it was pointless sending the uspa the $20 for the B. :S if I could do it again, I would just go for the C.

Hi Lisa,
The "C" is a definite before the new regs take effect, the "D" will be another matter altogether though, it may take until I'm old(er) and grey. The jump #'s should look much better next year though thanks to having gear.

Not to hijack my own thread, but the more I learn about you, the more you amaze me. What ratings/certs do you hold? And how did you like JM'ing S/L students?

Got the S/L JM shortly after my C license. Got the S/L I a bit over a year later when I finally got my D license (I had the requirements for the D long before but waited for my ex to catch up so we could get consecutive numbers). Picked up the senior riggers ticket in summer of '93. Got the Vector tandem rating in '95. Was the S&TA for our small dz for 6 months or so too (quit that when the dzo and a few others did a demo that I thought shouldn't have been done; they told me about it after they'd done it...).

All of the instructional ratings are expired long ago, and I'm far from current on rigging.

Great fun! I enjoyed it more than doing tandems; less responsibility but all the fun of working with a first time jumper.

I really enjoyed teaching the FJC, especially when I got to JM "my" students. But even if I didn't get to JM them, it was so much fun to take someone from whuffo to jumper (ie able to save own life and fly own canopy) in one day.

I'm considering picking up an AFF rating in the future. I kinda miss the teaching part of it; I really do love to share what I've learned over the years. :)

Hi Steve, good point! It' get's pretty nasty here (at times) during winter, which may prevent me from getting over Donner summit to Davis when I have time to go.

OTOH, Ontario is only an hour flight from Reno, and I can drive to Perris from there in about 45 minutes, so I don't think currency will be a factor.

Definately something I hadn't thought of though. Thanks!

Greg
