TomAiello 26 #3 November 30, 2002 Acupuncture ROCKS! After a serious back injury a few years ago (think 18 hours of neurosurgery and replacement of a vertebrae), I suffer from chronic back pain. Just about the only thing that helps it is acupuncture. Chiropractic is a joke, physical therapy is mildly useful, narcotics are very short term, but acupuncture is great. Did they use the electrified needles on you?-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
FallinWoman 1 #4 November 30, 2002 I have not tried it, but my mom is urging me to. I have been suffering from daily headaches for about 14 weeks now. None of the medicines that I am taking seem to be working. I guess that there is no harm in trying acupuncture, right?? My mom will be so happy! ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!! FreeFlyHol 0 #5 November 30, 2002 Good stuff! I work with an acupuncturist in AZ. He's a rockstar. When cheese gets its picture taken, what does it say?
FreeFlyHol 0 #6 November 30, 2002 I have a really good friend who I referred to my acupuncturist for migraines. She swears by it. Drugs create inbalance in your body, they will never "heal" you. Acupuncture balances you out and makes you feel sooooo good. When cheese gets its picture taken, what does it say?

FreeFlyHol 0 #8 November 30, 2002 Very, very small needles. Smaller than a piece of hair. Sounds strange. Works wonders! When cheese gets its picture taken, what does it say?

FreeFlyHol 0 #10 November 30, 2002 Just a little sting. If it's a real "active point" it may sting a little more and even bleed a drop or so when the needle's removed, (which is considered a good thing). It's amazing how your body reacts to acupuncture, if the needle isn't ready to come out yet...it won't. My doctor will leave the needle in for a while longer before attempting to remove it. The body is so smart and know's how to heal itself. When cheese gets its picture taken, what does it say?

CrazyIvan 0 #14 November 30, 2002 Acupuncture really rocks, I have a PhD in Stress , due to the type of work I do, and acupuncture really helped me a lot. Deuce 1 #15 November 30, 2002 I have a chronic pain condition, and I got undressed and on the table to have accupuncture done. The Dr. starts talking about cooking styles, west vs. east. More intuitive, less structured, I'm like, whatever, I'm hurting let's get this going. She lays out her needles. A couple of them are over a foot long. She tells me if she discovers a need as we go along she will use those to probe my chest. It's possible I could suffer a collapsed lung, but unlikely. She asks if I signed the waiver. This was in my pre-skydiving era, but now I can only think of this gal with her Hong Kong accent shouting at me with a collapsed lung "Fuck you buddy, you signed the waiver". I got up, told her, thank you, bye-bye. I think in a healing profession like that you have to have complete faith in the practitioner. Since I thought mine was a crackpot, even though she was a licensed MD and an accupuncturist, I split. Anything that works

airann 1 #17 November 30, 2002 Fallin- Go see a MD first. 14 weeks of any pain is your body telling you something is wrong. If meds do not work, You didnt say if it was Rx or OTC (over the counter), then either way, its a symptomology of some kind. 14 weeks! Girl? Look, quit being the tuff skydiver type and see your friendly MD and bring your own reading material. If you could be more specific for your Dr too. About what time? what were you doing? (quit coffee, need coffee, did not eat lunch, working on computer, eyesight, stress, sinus trouble) And, does your Mom have headaches? Did her mom have headaches? Its true with me. My mom failed to mention this about my Grandmother. http://www.ama-assn.org/special/migraine/support/educate/types.htm Go here and learn more about headaches. I am thinking yours might not be a serious migrane situation as you did not mention vomiting, light sensitivity, etc. Whatever it is Chronic comes to mind. Can also be a billion other things. In addition to my migranes. An MRI of my knoggin found a tumor on my pituitary gland. Which is right in the middle of my head behind my eyes. Scared me a little. Then I went to have my head examined, LOL, by a brain surgeon and he said that mine was really small and nothing to worry about. The majority of these types are not cancerous. However, the pituitary gland is the master gland and tells the body what to do. There are a bunch of glands that do stuff that is important. The brain guy said really that the first symptom that it has become bigger is eyesight. So I told him I would see him again when I couldnt see. He he... Accupuncture is fine. The needle must be inserted in the proper place and left for the proper amount of time. A small red mark may be that it was left too long. It makes it harder to get the needle out. But my experience as a needle gofer was years ago. The people accupuncture helped best were the people who believed it would work. Those suckers, sorry dude, they look like a cross between jelly fish and those scrubbing bubbles. Likely their purpose would to disrupt the nerves going to the brain that say Hello, something around here hurts. Pain is a symptom. Not a stand alone diagnois. ~AirAnn~
