My Grad jump video

Well I finally got a video card with Video in, so here is my Grad Jump. ftp://ftp.skydivingmovies.com/UPLOADS/Grad%20Jump.avi It's a little beefy (34 megs) and not a work of art. Actually it didn't capture very well, I'll have to figure out how to increase the quality. Before anyone comments on it, yes my JM pointed at his alti 'cause I lost awareness. It scared the shit out of me and won't happen again. And please don't make fun of my track LOL it's really bad.

Hey why does it look like your JM is doing a couple 360s after opening ? It is hard to tell if he does the 360s then pulls or pulls then spins. Any commentary on that part ?

I am pretty sure he spun on opening, it looks like maybe his right brake came unstowed cause I saw some loose line (I think)

Just out of interest....how low were you ? looked about 3500 - 3000 to me.

I'm normally at 1.9Meg but, if the sites slow, that about it.

Pull Alti was 4k and I pulled at 3.8. I thought I was going to fail, but after a long talk with the DZO, it was decided that I would pass. The loss of A/A is not going to happen again. That scared the shiznat out of me.

Yeah, I had to throttle the connection. I'd like to be able to throttle it with a single big number for the whole FTP site, that would mean that if there's two users on it'd still be real quick... but for complicated reasons I can't do that right now. I had to throttle it per user.

I will consider bumping it up a bit...

The difference between 4 and 3.8 is a little more than one second, so I would find it hard to characterize that as loss of altitude awarness ...

I would have guessed Casch should have "locked on" at 4500,
i think that maybe was what the spooked the Jumpmaster.

I didn't check my alti nearly enough. I looked before the turns, I looked before my track. That was it, and it wasn't good enough. My fallrate was faster than I thought and so I thought I had more alti. Also the post grad jump plan was to dock on my JM, so I was focusing on that and not alti. My HUGE mistake.

When I was a student and learning how to track, I lost aa and pulled at 1500. And I thought skydiving alone got my heart racing!

Awesome video! Hang onto it and watch it again after 50 more jumps.

I did the same thing last weekend.I did'nt check my alti nearly enough.and on my docking I looked like I was on ice sliding in sideways.funny to watch the vid of it.then I had no track at all.I had to repeat the jump and did a little better on the 2nd attempt.But I still have alot of work and learning to go.Then there's always something new to learn.I got quite a bit of advise around the DZ today,a little on everything from dives to taking care of gear.(thanks for the advice Grant).

Keep your head up dude! Anyone asks, tell them you were practicing your "S" tracking technique! Just remember, THE most important part of the skydive is to pull the parachute!!
