AggieDave 6 #5 December 2, 2002 Fun isn't it? Wait till you really start to get it dialed in and you start flying up to people, around people, getting docks and stuff, then you'll keep going with FF without looking back. Man this stuff is so much fun! --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

mujie96 0 #7 December 2, 2002 Did I mention that once I figured out I was nervous about flying my new canopy for no reason at all my landings improved? I'm back to landing in a standing position with the exception of a nice, soft PLF on a downwind landing (I have this fear of turning low). I will be walking and ready to corrupt Viking in Eloy. CanuckInUSA 0 #9 December 2, 2002 Quote Hey, I DID IT! WITHOUT SPINNING! For 3 jumps in a ROW! And in a RW suit to boot. Congrats!!! Isn't freeflying fun? I'm too currently jumping in an RW suit and initially it gave me tons on trouble, but I'm ok with it now. But I'm definitely going to want to pick up a free fly suit as I've tried to go head down on several occasions now, but failed due to no doubt technique, but also wearing the wrong clothing. So I've got the basic sit working, but now I need to refine several of my techniques. The first problem I need to fix is getting myself into better 90 degree angles. On my last jump of the day yesterday an experience free flier jumped with me and afterwards he told me that my knees and my waist were bent more than 90 degrees (I was leaning a tad too far forward). Then I need to work on my forward movement (being able to move from one part of the sky to another) as I've been on several free fly jumps with other more experienced jumpers but I couldn't get to whatever piece of the sky they were occupying. And finally I need to work on slowing down my fall rate (I'm bigger than many of the guys I've jumped with and I fall like a rock). Anyway, welcome to the dark side and good luck with your progression. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I wish that I had video, I'd love to see the expression on my face! Hol :)When cheese gets its picture taken, what does it say?
CanuckInUSA 0 #11 December 2, 2002 Quote I'm back to landing in a standing position with the exception of a nice, soft PLF on a downwind landing (I have this fear of turning low). By the way, you're not the only one who's downwinded a landing. I had a brain fart on Sunday and was watching one of the first guys land. He was heading west and I took my eyes off of him not knowning that he actually hooked the turn back east at a fairly low altitude. Well the next thing you know I'm only 100 or so feet from the ground and headed west downwind (while a couple of other jumpers are headed east) and I figured the downwind was the better option than trying to turn. But would you believe I made one of my better flares (now I have an idea as to what a swoop landing is like) and I ran out the landing. I'm happy that I didn't hurt myself, but I'm not happy with my brain fart. Oh well, hopefully I learned a thing or two. smiles 0 #13 December 2, 2002 Ya! must feel great congrats Jess!! The closest I've come to freefly is to try and animate basic moves- my freefly page... http://members.shaw.ca/k.cox348/ Last jump this season Gary and I decided to launch with me holding onto his risers (he was infront of me, both standing in porter door with right foot on step / facing tail) we left in stand up bringing our right foot in to meet left. I brought my legs up to wrap around him, and arms out to sit fly together. What a riot! Hope to get down to some sun this winter (from Canada) and spend some time with freefly....
