Vallerina 2 #1 December 4, 2002 Has anyone out there actually achieved their childhood dreams? As in when I was 4, I wanted to be a ballerina. When I was 8, I wanted to be a lawyer. When I was 12, I wanted to be a dentist. I am far from any of those things! Does anyone actually go through with what they wanted to be when they were young? There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
nacmacfeegle 0 #2 December 4, 2002 Why yes, when I was a kid playing with my Lego and meccano, I wanted 'to build big things' and thats what I do for a living now. But that doesn't mean to say that I have grown up yet!-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. SkymonkeyONE 4 #3 December 4, 2002 Oddly, I ended up spending my life doing exactly what I envisioned as a child. Chuck
skybytch 273 #4 December 4, 2002 I wanted to be a "professional" writer from the time I learned to read. That hasn't happened... yet. I also wanted to be a lawyer when I was in junior high. I remember daydreaming quite often when I was young about being a world record holder at anything (pogo stick, jump rope, most pies eaten in one sitting...). That's the one that I was pretty darn sure would never get beyond the daydreaming stage. Strange that's the one dream from childhood that I have managed to accomplish, and I couldn't have possibly imagined back then that I'd eventually earn that distinction jumping out of airplanes. mccordia 74 #8 December 4, 2002 I wanted to make animated movies as soon as I uderstood who made them and how they where made. Next to that I've been wanting to skydive since I was 8 years old. My uncle jumped a lot back then and my dad was going to start jumping, but then my uncle broke his back and skydiving was a definate no-no within 'the family'. My dad however always went to demo's with me, and I was fascinated with those people who came out of the sky...:) So I'm a (3D) animator, and I jump...I've pretty much realized my dreams...stil not completely there (I want to work at Pixar in the USA, the guys that made Toy Story/Monsters Inc and other great animated films)JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? wmw999 2,583 #10 December 4, 2002 I was going to be a doctor. For as long as I can remember, until I took organic chemistry in college . By the time I hit 12, I wanted to jump. I did the skydiving part... But instead of being a doctor, I'm a rocket scientist (well, a programmer for the space program -- that counts, doesn't it?) Wendy W. freeflir29 0 #12 December 4, 2002 I didn't want to do anything specific as a child. I just knew I wanted to have a lot of cash. When I was about 19 or 20 I figured out I wanted to be James Bond. Still workin on it but getting closer every day.
Slappie 9 #13 December 4, 2002 I just wanted to be a pimp/dope dealer. Never was either one. Then I wanted to be a Mafia "Don" haven't achieved that one either. I will one day rule the world. I have yet to find my "Trophy Wife" though, can't rule the world without one. Seriously, I use to want to be a doctor. I'm far from ever becoming a doctor. I think pimp/dope dealer would have been easier. Awe-hell I'm a slacker an love it !! freeflir29 0 #17 December 4, 2002 Quote 'I always wanted to be a lumberjack I thought about that when I was about 21. One of my friends was a "Faller" for a timber company. He only worked from 6 AM to about 12 noon and brought home between $800-$1000 per week for about 8 months out of the year. Seemed like a pretty good gig to me. Until Clinton sacked the timber industry anyway...

Muenkel 0 #23 December 4, 2002 When I was a kid, I wanted to be an architect. I used to spend hours sitting at my desk with my graph paper and pencils designing houses and buildings. Later I wanted to be an actor. I did that in community theater for a while, but realized I didn't really feel like chasing that gig (not to mention I really had no talent). Then there was the Doctor period, but I truly was too lazy at the time. Now, I just want to be a skydiver. _________________________________________ Chris
skybytch 273 #24 December 4, 2002 Quote Now, I just want to be a skydiver. So what you're saying here is that after all these years, you still haven't grown up? That's okay. I haven't grown up yet either. Actually... I refuse to grow up. Which explains why I'm not a "professional" writer or a lawyer right now - that's for sometime far in the future, when I grow up.
