skydiverchick 0 #1 December 3, 2002 OMG I am hating life right now. I just got pulled over for speeding and because I have so many tickets in a year I could and prolly will end up in jail for 30 days. My court date is on the 11th. I have tickets to florida on the dec 13 through Jan 9th. I called a lawyer and he said he could help except I don't have the $750 to pay him. I am a college student living on my own with absolutley no family to speak of. No one of my frerinds has money that they could loan me. I am all alone in this world and I am scared. How is this fare I was speeding 12mph over? People do awfull things all the time and get off and I'm going to jail and will have no way to pay my bills, I'll loose my house my car...this will mess up my school. I'm screwed. ladyskydiver 0 #2 December 3, 2002 Sorry your day is going so bad. Will the lawyer work on a payment plan basis? Call a few lawyers. They should be willing to work something out.Life is short! kopelen 0 #3 December 3, 2002 How many tickets hae you had this past year???
Sonic 0 #4 December 3, 2002 that sucks. Wish I could help. The traffic laws in the UK suck though - the police spend more time getting money of people who go 1mph over the limit than catching actual criminals.----------------------------------- It's like something out of that twilighty show about that zone

Keith 0 #6 December 3, 2002 No offense skydiverchick, but if you go to jail it won't be because you were going 12 miles over the speed limit. It'll be because with all those tickets in one year you obviously refuse to learn a lesson. Slow Down.Keith Don't Fuck with me Keith - J. CrazyThomas 0 #7 December 3, 2002 The real question is this: How can we help? Really, $750 for your lawyer? What if we got a donation to skydiverchick fund set up? I'd give $10 to help. If we all give a little, it could mean a lot. Seriously, let's help her. Let's show love. She skydives, so she is one of us freefall loving people. Let's help each other when we can. If I had the whole $750 to get her a lawyer, I would. Not yet I don't though, so I can throw down $10 to help. Let's come together as a community and see if we can't help one of are own. Please, let's all help her through this. Peace, Thomas
Muenkel 0 #8 December 3, 2002 I'm with Keith on this one. You brought this upon yourself. Now I doubt they are going to put you in jail though. You most likely will have fines, suspended license and your insurance is going to go up...considerably. But on the bright side, this lesson learned may have saved your life or someone other's. _________________________________________ Chris
skydiverchick 0 #9 December 3, 2002 I've had four tickets...I'm gonna call the lawyer and ask about a payment plan. Mother Hen
indyz 1 #10 December 3, 2002 Go see if your college has a student legal aid office. Many do, or can at least hook you up with a reasonably priced (possibly free) lawyer or legal advisor.
AggieDave 6 #11 December 3, 2002 I'm sorry you're having a bad day, but I tend to agree with Keith. So far I only have 1 speeding ticket *knock on wood*, but when I got it, I also was doing 12 over the limit. I bitched to myself about it, but I knew I was wrong so I dealt with it.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." wildblue 7 #12 December 3, 2002 check when your last two tickets were - if this isn't your third in 12 months, you may not have to go to court. mail the fine in, and hope you haven't racked up enough points to have your license taken away.it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
Muenkel 0 #13 December 3, 2002 QuotePlease, let's all help her through this. You can help her through this by allowing her to GO through it. I know I sound harsh, but I grew up without my grandfather and my dad grew up without his father due to someone who was driving recklessly and was warned repeatedly. _________________________________________ Chris
mouth 0 #14 December 3, 2002 I admit I speed, but I have only had one ticket in my life and that was on the day I turned 18. You need to either learn not to speed or figure out how to get out of the tickets. If I had 3 tickets in a year I think I would learn how to slow down because obviously you don't know how to get out of them. Good luck with the lawyer, but slow down. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.
wildblue 7 #15 December 3, 2002 Quote If I had 3 tickets in a year I think I would learn how to slow down That actually happened to me last year. Ok, so one of them was BS, and I really wasn't speeding. One was on the motorcycle on an empty (except for the cop) stretch of road - I admit fully to that one, and am just thrilled he didn't clock me a mile or two earlier. The other was me just not paying attention to my speed - I probably was speeding, and I knew it was a speed trap, it's on my way home from work, and they sit there all the time. For the last year, I've set my cruise control, even in 35mph zones. Except of course when I'm following some speed-crazed mad-woman up I-65 at 95mph.... but she would have gotten pulled over (probably) not me... and cute girls with boobs have a better chance of getting out of a ticket. it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
mouth 0 #16 December 3, 2002 If you consider 34 A boobs then fine, but I don't use them to get out of a ticket. I generally admit I was wrong and apologize. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.
skydiverchick 0 #17 December 3, 2002 Thanl you very much for the support Thomas... but I couldn't except money from you all...I know most of you are struggling like I am. The fact that you are willing to help makes me feel very greatfull. I am going to talk to my schools legal aid office and see if they can't help. I know I brought this upon myself but at the same time JAIL...I haven't hurt anyone. I've never been in accident. I speed just like most people...since my last ticket and stuff I have seriuosly slowed down! I don't really know why I posted this I guess I just needed to get it off my chest. CrazyThomas 0 #19 December 3, 2002 The main point here is about money. No offense meant skydiverchik. College kids do not have the money usually to pay the fines, or it wouldn't be such a problem. Let's not help her with words, let's help her with her fines. Would the story change if she told you: "I don't have the money to pay the fines or lawyer"? I don't know if this is the case, but who else would help her with the cost of ONE jump ticket to keep her out of jail? I will start up the donation fund list. 1. Crazy Thomas 2. 3. 4. and if we fill the list like a world record attempt big way, life will be better for her. Peace, Thomas

lewmonst 0 #21 December 3, 2002 carrie, that sucks. we've all gotten speeding tickets. I've had 3 within a year a few years ago. but i payed them off however i could. if you cancel you vacation tickets you'll have money and save money by not jumping over the vacation. you could always drive to florida when you get out of jail but not too fast, of course

Muenkel 0 #24 December 3, 2002 She is not going to jail for 4 speeding tickets in one year. Do you know how much that would cost the taxpayers? The very worst is a temporarily suspended license, fines and a huge insurance increase. _________________________________________ Chris
jlmiracle 7 #25 December 3, 2002 Sorry skydiverchick, but I too have to agree with Keith. Yeah, there are much worse criminals out there, but rules are rules, and laws are laws. Hang in there.
