Beer or Wine

This is not personally aimed at you Philly Kev but it's funny how people always say what kind of wine is better with this andd that and blah blah blah. I have always asked people when I used to run restaurants ~ What is your favorite wine? What do you want to eat tonight? Well then I tell them I think since they you like that and that, that the food and wine they just choose will be a perfect match for each other!!B|B|

Though a Sauvingon Blanc would probably go better with a light white fish...;)

I don't agree with the red wines only with X food, white with Y food. I drink what I think tastes good. But the contents of different foods definitely make a difference. I didn't realize this until I went to a local winery and the old retired German chemical engineer that owned it had me taste this one red with 3 different kinds of cheeses and a couple different kinds of chocolate. It was the same damn wine but with some foods it would be dry and tart, with others sweet, with others mellow. The tannins in wine combine with different foods in different ways.

I'm not going to look down my nose at someone for drinking Chardonay with red meat (even though I wouldn'd do it ;)) But when you find the right combinations, man...it's good.
