Guest #2 December 4, 2002 Just saw a PBS "Mystery!" program called "Skinwalkers" (murder on the Rez). Tribal cop puts his cat out for the night, telling it, "Remember, eat what you kill." Funny!"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
freeflir29 0 #3 December 4, 2002 Nice pic but I bet my dog eats more mice than your cat! Jack Russel Terriers can be pretty vicious with rats. Of course, a MONSTER rat ended up in my pool not long ago. It was the size of a squirrel. Must have weighed 2-3 lbs. I didn't want them trying to eat that one so I kept them in the house while I disposed of it.
FreeFlyHol 0 #4 December 4, 2002 I don't think that they are any animals in a 5 mile radius of my condo. My kitty will bring home 3 birds or lizards a day. She'll rip the birds heads off (her favorite part), eat the guts, and spit out the feet...then come over and love on me like it was a normal part of her day. It's kinda embarrassing the first time I have someone over and the patio looks like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. x's and o's, Hol :)When cheese gets its picture taken, what does it say? freeflir29 0 #5 December 4, 2002 Quote It's kinda embarrassing the first time I have someone over and the patio looks like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. One of our "Barn Cats" went on a rampage once. She was a quite unusual cat. The dogs had ended up killing of all the cats until this one wandered up one night. It just came walking up to the barn. Of course about 4 dogs took off after it. Barking and raising hell. The cat just stood there....and when the first dog got to it she rubbed under his neck with her back. One of the funniest thing I have ever seen. The dog just stood there.....with a VERY suprised/nervous look on it's face. The cat made the rounds to embarass all the other dogs. After that....they left her alone. Well...one day I guess she got tired of eating the cat food in the barn. She started dragging up a lot of quail, squirrels, and even several FULL GROWN RABBITTS. Those rabbitts must have outweighed her by several pounds. Strange cat for sure.....
Muenkel 0 #6 December 4, 2002 Quote One of our "Barn Cats" Clay, You have Barn Cats? This means you most likely have a barn and we know what just may live in that barn. Now we know. _________________________________________ Chris

FreeFlyHol 0 #8 December 4, 2002 I'm sure that if AZ had wildlife beyond birds, lizards and well...cacti, Virgo would be bringing that home too. x's and o's, Hol :)When cheese gets its picture taken, what does it say?

skygal3 0 #10 December 4, 2002 my Lola Belle is a Bengal kitty, living the high life in a spoiled world with me, obviously...in my old house I had a finished basement and we a problem with field mice coming in and living in our laundry room...one night Lola was pretty quiet so I went looking for her, and there she was staring under a dehumdifier. I walked in the room, startled the mouse with the light and he went zipping across the floor, well...showing how vicious she can be obviously, Lola runs after the mouse and starts to batt it around like a spongeball or something, never once sinking in her claws or her teeth, just merely wanting to play...LOL...yeah, vicious little bengal I have
skymama 37 #11 December 4, 2002 My cat, Phoebe, often acts more like a dog than a cat. She greets us at the door when we get home, she follows us from room to room, she begs for food every time we're in the kitchen, she takes stuff out of the kid's rooms and drags them all over the house, and she goes and fetches her favorite toy and drops it in our laps all day long so we'll play with her. Now she has figured out that if she sits on the kitchen trash can, she can watch us prepare food (she's not allowed on the counter). This morning my son was in the kitchen and I heard him say, "Phoebe!" in a very exasperated voice. When I asked what was wrong he said, "she just ate some of the ham off my sandwich I was making!" She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

SpeedRacer 1 #14 December 4, 2002 well it just goes to show you...some people think cats are "cute wittle wuv balls", but the truth is they're bloodthirsty predators. People think it's so cute when they see a cat playing, until you realize that EVERY game you play with a cat has the same theme: "Kill the Little Moving Thing" Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
skygal3 0 #15 December 4, 2002 lol...yeah, lola and charlie know not to even attempt to jump on the counters, which is why I found it odd when I came home a few weeks ago to see Lola quietly sitting on the counter. My kitchen is sort of diamond shaped, she was sitting on the counter running on the side, facing an island that runs the length and seperates the kitchen from the dining room ( which, by the way, was perfect to practice my arch on )...anyway, on the island I have a fish bowl with my 2 fish from work, so there she was sitting ever so quietly "keeping an eye" on the fishthey don't care about human food. If someone tries to give them turkey or something they will walk away. But if I have a strawberry pop tart, they are all over me.

JohnnyD 0 #17 December 5, 2002 QuoteJust saw a PBS "Mystery!" program called "Skinwalkers" (murder on the Rez). Tribal cop puts his cat out for the night, telling it, "Remember, eat what you kill." Funny! I watched it as well and thought it was pretty good. If you liked it, it was an adaptation of a book written by Tony Hillerman. He has also written more books around the same central characters. They are very good books, if you are interested in that sort of thing.
Snowbird 0 #18 December 5, 2002 Bongo is beautiful! I'd love to have a Bengal. Do you breed her? My cat Leaha couldn't care less about hunting, but we had another cat several years ago that took great pride in making sure a disembowled mouse was on the doorstep every time we came home. Always looked so proud... and we never had a mouse problem. I was on holiday once, and the resident cat was a bat hunter. Absolutely amazing to watch that kitty take a bat out of mid air, jumping as much as 4 feet up to get them. Never ate them though, just killed them and spit them out like they tasted bad or something. Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. skygal3 0 #19 December 5, 2002 thanks, she is a beauiful girl. I don't breed her; actually I had her spayed as soon as she came home. Her parents were pedigree bengals, but to be honest with you, that isn't why I took her in. I actually rescued her from a bad situation when she was 7 months...poor little Lola. Her fathers name is Sir Tigger talksalot, I thought that was funny until she came home. Wow. She has a voice! When she was a kitten it was non stop and I would actually worry if I didn't hear her, but now it is just when she is hungry, playful, or trying to wake me up...or when someone new is around, or when she is looking for something..well, it has receeded a bit. Snowbird 0 #21 December 5, 2002 So is that a common Bengal trait, being so vocal? Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein
skygal3 0 #22 December 5, 2002 as far as I know it is...supposedly they love water too but she hasn't showed too much interest in it. She is extremely loving, but still pretty independent. She is def. not a needy cat. But she does love to run and play, I will be sleeping and I will hear her trotting around upstairs...lol...she is very funny. I would recommend a bengal, there are people that wouldn't because they do have the "wild" in them, but she has never shown aggression. That is the reason that they are not accepted by the CFA , because they have a feral history. Supposedly she would be illegal in conn and georgia because she was not bred in that state, but I don't know if the rules have changed. There are a bunch of bengal rescue groups and such, I can dig up the URLs and pm them to you...
Snowbird 0 #23 December 6, 2002 Thanks, but a)I'm not looking for a cat right now. My Leaha would never forgive me b)I'm in Canada so US groups won't be of any help. BUT one day I will give a Bengal a home. That feral-ness is what I love. That and their wonderful markings! Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein
