Gawain 0 #12 December 6, 2002 You are correct, real friends are difficult to find, but fortunately, I've found they're easier to hold on to. Indeed, I am fortunate. lawrocket 3 #18 December 6, 2002 I have figured out that I will never know how many real friends I have. Some of those who I considered "friends" or "acquaintances" have really come through for me. I would say I have four or five, but just a couple of days ago, another old friend whom I haven't seen in almost a year popped up and gave a call. Last week I didn't think she cared one bit. Now I'd trust her as well as anyone. Think of how many people for whom you'd go to the ends of the earth, only they don't know it. Chances are, there is a similar number the other way round. If my theory is correct, I have scores of them. Jerry Friends come and go - enemies accumulate. My wife is hotter than your wife.

RevJim 0 #20 December 6, 2002 I have three I consider true friends, as in I would be willing to do anything to help them. I'm not afraid to name them, even though the names would suprise a few people..... Joel Swann (aka Peanut 4040) James Bozarth (aka bozo) and last, but far from least: Don Jardine (aka Treetop) These are people who have treated me with respect, yet have been firm enough to gain my respect as well. They are all generous to a fault, and despite the on-line presence they all have, you could not ask for better people to call friends. Flame away, I've got my firesuit on.It's your life, live it! Michele 1 #21 December 6, 2002 I would say I have 4+. Recent events, both in my personal life and in the world, have shown me that friends are far more important than "things". But I like the theory that you don't really know how many friends you have who'd go to the ends of the earth for you unless and until you need that...likewise, I know there are many people who I'd pretty much do anything for, and they have no idea. ChileRelleno 0 #22 December 6, 2002 I have some friends who are not family who I would ask for food/shelter, cry on their shoulder and vice versa and ect... One of those I would trust with my families wellbeing in an emergency situation, and who I have entrusted my life to in the past. These are friends I've known since elementary and JR.High school, I've known my friend Jody for 23 years, Frank for 19 and Melanie for 18/19. But the really "Real" best friends are the friends I call my family, I mean there's family and then there's "FAMILY". You know what I mean the ones your really friends with... Then again we have our skydiving family/friends, we feed and shelter each other, live and die with each other, comfort and console and regularly put our lives in each others hands. What is really neat is that they're all "Special". ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
FallinWoman 1 #23 December 6, 2002 Besides my family, I count three people who I believe in....my childhood friend Leslie, my college rommmate Beth, and Marc. But I also suspect that if I needed it, there would be people in the skydiving community who would help me out. That is one of the things I love about our sport. ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!! pds 0 #24 December 6, 2002 that is a most true statement. my old man told me once that if you share that kind of headspace with one person on the planet you should consider yourself blessed. for the past 12 years i have been fortunate to have had 2 of those people in my world, some accomplishment considering the nomadic life i have led. then there were 3. then there were 2. the difference i see between a few brothers and sisters and a bunch of really good buddies is that it feels like you cannot afford to lose even one of former and when you do the whole world turns to shit for a while. i mean really turns to shit. but there _are_ 2 people on this planet that know exactly where my head is at, when i am bullshitting them and when i am bullshitting myself and love me enough to smack me around when i get out of line and vice-versa. i feel like the saddest, richest man alive right now. but the game is not over and i expect that number will rise before it is. who knows.namaste, motherfucker.
