hooked 0 #1 December 6, 2002 the Holiday Season? I love the decorations, the lights, the true meaning of the season and the warmth that all of these things bring. The first decoration to go up was my 'parchuting sound activated Santa'. With any sound, Skydiving Santa sings 'Santa Claus is coming to town', I love it! The tree is up, the outdoor lights are up, and my house is a mess! I hope it all gets 'in order' before the season is over. This is a time to reflect on friends, family and life. To see the holiday "pizazz" in a child's eye as I did today with my 1 1/2 year old grandson is awesomeA bit 'sappy'. Happy Holidays! Gawain 0 #2 December 6, 2002 For some reason, this year, more than years' past, I am not "feeling" the festiveness. There are some items this year, however, which are playing into that (family, etc). We'll see how it plays out.. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! skymama 37 #6 December 6, 2002 I'm all about Christmas, it's always been a wonderful time in my family. It's less of a religious holiday for us, and more of a time to gather everyone in the family up and share some good times. This year I think there will be 28 at my mom's house. I have so many decorations, it's boardering on embarrassing. I always go to the after Christmas sales and add to my collection, then it's always a big surprise for me when I unearth them, because I always forget that I bought something new. I'll be putting up my tree tomorrow and decorating the house with the kids. This will be the first time of me actually being the one to try to get the tree in the stand and the lights on it. I'm sure it will be quite comical. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
hooked 0 #7 December 6, 2002 OMG, I'm the same way! When I unpack all the decorations and come across something I bought at the end of the last season, it is such a pleasant surprise! But, I have too many, I must get rid of some of the 'old' ones. J -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings. freeflir29 0 #8 December 6, 2002 Mostly I find this time of year annoying. It's cold...the stores are crowded...and I have to spend money on gifts. It's a little better this year though. At least my brother and Sis in law have called a Christmas truce. We decided we're not buying gifts for each other. How cool.... Of course I still have one other sister, the parents, and a son to spend money on.....
PLFXpert 0 #9 December 6, 2002 Geez...I feel evil for loving the holidays! BZ doesn't care much for them either but I LOVE the lights, decorations, music at Starbucks, warm expresso, hot chocolate, egg nog, etc. I love buying people presents, and I LOVE SENDING/HANDING OUT CARDS! I'm all about cards. I don't like cookies but I even love baking cookies around the holidays. BZ likes them, too. I love giving people their cards/presents, going light-looking, wearing sweaters to warm up, being naked under a million covers and snuggling up to stay warm. I just really love the holidays. I dont' care much for the crowded stores, either, but I usually start my X-mas shopping 4 months in advance. I'm done now. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. happythoughts 0 #10 December 6, 2002 I tend to give people gifts whenever the mood strikes me. If I run into something that a friend would like, I buy it. Christmas creates an obligation to get one in return. I don't like people to feel that they have to get me something back.
Guest #11 December 6, 2002 I don't think of myself as a humbug, but I truly despise all the crass, secular "Jingle All the Way" crap with a passion, and trying to shop during the holidays drives me nuts. Example: last weekend I went to a fabric store to get a spool of thread, but I was trapped behind all the people buying holiday craft materials (nothing wrong with that. I must admit there was some very tasteful stuff, bless them), and the muzak made me want to scream (why don't you just drag your fingernails across a blackboard for me instead, or give me a paper cut and pour some lemon juice in it?!). However, I adore the old Christian hymns, many of which were sung on Sundays the year round when I attended Methodist services. This also helped me get a grasp on sheet music. I still can't decipher it completely, but I understand it a lot better thanks to the hymns. The best compromise I've heard is the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas album. Wonderful instrumentals of traditional hymns."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
